KZitem doesn't yet offer Smell-a-Vision, but believe me that this fan has that delicious old teak furniture + old carboard smell. The fun doesn't end there though, in fact it's only just starting!
Here I have something that's basically a time machine back to when Indonesia is only a few years into its independence. Everything you see was black & white before the color filter in our eyes got switched on, so this would've been a light grey fan with dark grey packaging back in the day. Nah I'm just kidding! But imagine a 2 story high end Dutch house owned by a wealthy Indonesian family with teakwood ceiling & roof structure, a living room on the 1st floor & a decorative metal screen door leading out to a big shaded terrace just a few steps away. Rattan chairs & a heavy teak coffee table sits on top of colorful glazed tile floor & comforts you while you're watching the president touring the world with his diplomatic missions on one of the first televisions in your neighborhood while slowly drinking the coffee in your lovely enameled metal cup. A gentle breeze from a small blue imported ceiling fan mounted on a high ceiling cools you down in a hot summer's day. Now that house has long been demolished & the land used for a big shiny mall with cinemas & shopping districts, but that is the very scene this fan brings to me just by looking at it!
This fan was sold to me by an antiques dealer who just acquired a truck full of new in box 1950's car turntables, radios, flashlights, lamps, toys etc from a warehouse in Jakarta. He had 3 of these in stock, and this fan is in the best condition of all 3, so I picked it up before anyone else does. It was definitely a huge surprise the first time I laid eyes on the ad for this fan, and an even bigger surprise when I opened the packaging up for the first time. Yes the fan has received quite a large amount of storage rashes, the packaging itself is falling apart in a couple spots, and the downrod is missing, but everything else somehow made me nostalgic for the time when my granparents were born!
I haven't tested whether this fan works or not, nor have I made a downrod for it. But believe me, this fan will definitely get its time to shine after more than 70 years of sitting in its box waiting for an owner!
