Hey, I think I'll be getting the exact same size as you with the tracer plate, but I'm confused about what kind of slide blocks to get. Discoblox clearly fit for you, which is great to hear! What size did you get? (Also, would you recommend the 98 wheel for a beginner? I'm currently on 78s lol, wanting something a bit faster and more agile for the park but not too fast!) P. S. This is the best video I've seen about these, thanks so much!! Are the 6mm laces better than their 8mm ones?
@ShortysSkateSeries
3 жыл бұрын
I use to wear the Discoblox but now I'm on a Bont prototype. I'm can't remember what size but I believe there is a Discotrux size chart you can check. You'll find the Tracer plate size on the plate at the heel end. If you are a Bont 3.5 then the plate is a 5.5 78a is an outdoor wheel so yes that will be slow for the skate park. I really like the Street Flow 89a. It's a great inbetween wheel and I love the shape. But anything high 80/ low 90s will be good. It's when you get to the high 90s that you'll be going fast! As for laces. When I first skated on them I was like "yeah, I love these new laces" compared to my other parkstars. However, I just took a ruler to them because I thought both were 6mm as 6mm is stock for the Parkstar boots. My laces in my new boots are 8mm (I must have ordered them 😅) and I love them more. I skate pretty hard so being wider it keeps them even more in place and I don't have to retighten after lots of skating. If you do want to buy Bont products I do have a discount code. Hey Shorty! I've got a pair of Parkstars on the way and am curious about trying grinds. I was hoping to ask: 1. Do you need to limit your toe stop length to prevent the stop from hitting the rail? 2. Do you have a resource for disco block sizing on the tracer plate? The stock sheet doesn't seem to have one. Thank you for putting out really great and helpful content! 😊💜
@ShortysSkateSeries
3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the kind words. Here are my answers to your questions, I hope it helps. 1. Yes I screwed mine all the way up because if I tip my weight too much forward then the toe stop catches. If doing 50/50 grinds I really focus on having my weight in the back of my skates so I don't tip forward. 2. I don't but you can contact Disco on IG at @discotech.skate and he should be able to help you. The blocks I have on my skates now are Bont prototypes that I think should be coming out in a few months.

You have made me interested in bony skates! I would like to understand if you can use the hybrid roller derby skates in a skate park, and what the advantages or disadvantages are between that and the park stars. I’ve found my feet are two different sizes and would like to customize to fit perfectly.
@ShortysSkateSeries

You could use the Bont Hybrid boot at the skate park but a lot of skaters prefer a boot with more ankle support like the Parkstar. Also if you are new to park skating a 23mm heel on the Parkstar boot helps with balance on ramps. For semi-custom boots Bont can make two difference size boots, you will just need to contact info@bont.com to place an order.

They are holding up well so far. I can't feel any flex in the plate but then again I'm not that heavy. The Prodigy (nylon) plate will have more flex than a metal plate. You might want to check your kingpin nut. I tighten mine super tight as you don't need a lot of action when skating ramps. Also the Parkstar boot has a lower heel than the Moxi boot so it will change the balance point which might be contributing to feeling unstable.
