I have the Tube Pilot and I had to Open it up remove the board and adjust the Trim Pot to lower the voltage going to the Tube to decrease how much gain I was getting. Yes it not only has a Bugera 12AX7C tube it has trim pot for adjusting the bias of the Tube. That's a preamp design feature you don't see in many pedals.

I've had a Quintessence for a few weeks now, and it is one of my absolute favorites. Once you get a handle on how it all works together, it becomes a TON of fun! The thing most people seem to miss at first is the "#" toggle. So when you set the pedal to "A" in the major scale with a +3rd & +5th in this video, the toggle was still on "#" which means it was set to "A#." And in that mode, you'd have to play a major scale for it to sound right.

Yeah the design with the mash seems to be pretty confusing for some people. On the flashback 2 it's a bit more clear.
@MrOrb1979
4 жыл бұрын
Maybe someone might have elaborated this but still, At 17:36 In the key of A, The Scale knob of the Pedal represents the Modes of a Major Scale. IO maj = Ionian (Major) DO = Dorian (Minor) PH = Phrygian (Minor) LY = Lydian (Major) MI = Mixo-Lydian (Major) AE min = Aeolian (Minor) The 7th mode is Lociran. This one's more of a "Diminished" in Nature. But It's not present in this pedal. Stay safe, Happy Practicing

I have eight of these pedals, and a few things you might have mentioned that I have found helpful: The sound quality is consistently good. These do not sound like inexpensive pedals. No extraneous noise. Very clean signals. The build quality is excellent. They're very solid and roadworthy. They're a bit bigger than the current standard pedal size, which adds some visibility and even allows foot dialing on stage if you're careful, but at the cost of room on your pedalboard. Some of the pedals have a soft-touch button which is great--no click noise. For example, the Rush boost pedal is soft-touch. It's the cleanest boost I've used. No coloration to the tone whatsoever, just a nice big boost with a ton of extra volume on tap. I leave it at the end of the chain and never gig without it. This is an amazing line in terms of quality of sound and build at an accessible price. Great value for the money, whether you're a pro or a beginner looking to build an affordable, quality pedal board. Besides the Rush boost, like Ryan, the Tube Pilot is my favorite. Just a great sounding overdrive pedal.

I've had a Tube Pilot for years. I've tried swapping it out with some distortion and drive pedals, but I keep putting it back. It's surprisingly versatile. With the drive down, it adds just a little warmth. With the drive up, it's a gritty distortion. High recommended.

Loved the Tube Pilot. On the Quintessence, the upper toggle switch determines if your are in the key of A or A#. I don't think it has anything to do with the mash switch. Having an idea about music theory will definitely help with this (especially if you need to know the difference between PH and AE... and you're a bit rusty in your Greek).

Ph stands for Phrygian, Ae for Aeolian, Do for Dorian etc. It's just the mods. If you choose the 5th, you won't see the "color" of the mods, because a 5th stays the same throughout each mod. It's like you played power chords. Pick the 3rd, and you'll notice it. In Phrygian, the 3rd is minor (b3), in Dorian it's major. But you definitely have to know just a few basics to work with this pedal 😉
