Peace, thank you for this video. I've been searching for a power supply to add to my DIY case, which doesn't break the bank (well, I should say obliterate as the other models I've purchased have done their best to demolish the bank). lol

You are welcome :-) Yeah modular is a really cool journey - and I love. My bank account hates it though... :-D

Hi! Thanks for this review. I want this power supply for my first modular synth. I have a Moog 60 HP case already and want a solution for power. Is there any reason to spend a little more for the Tiptop Zeus or any other power module?

Thanks for the feedback Carlos! I guess actually not. I still use and I'm happy. With 1A power delivery it can juice some modules. If you want to be sure, just use www.modulargrid.net to put together your modules in the rack virtually. The most modules have power consumption in the properties so you can see nicely how much power the whole rack would need.

hey, you're confusing a couple of things. the power brick is rated at 3A, but the cp1a itself can only provide 1A. check the manual for it. External power adaptor (use only the supplied adapter) 13 VDC, 3 A Power consumption 35 W maximum Power outputs and pin outs +5 VDC @ 0.5 A, pins 11, 12 -12 VDC @ 1 A, pins 1, 2 +12 VDC @ 1 A, pins 9, 10

@@NewElectronicFrontier sure thing. Better to know the specs before you put in some digital module that draws too much power and you think something is wrong when nothing powers on. Or worse. Best to keep some headroom, as with the uzeus. Wouldn't run this at more than 700ma . Which should be fine for analog modules in your 1 row

Can I use it for a 6U 84hp case or do I need two of them?

Hey Paolo! This heavily depends on the modules you plan to use. If it's just a few large footprint modules it probably is enough. But if you go for an assortment of the usual suspects with 6 - 12 HP my best guess is that one isn't enough. It delivers only 1000ma. If you want to use just one power module, you may want to check out the TipTop audio micro Zeus. If I'm not mistaken it has 2000ma standard and with a special power supply it can deliver 3000ma. And it's roughly double the price of the behringer - so I guess that's the better option. You can plan ahead on modulargrid.net - there you can build a virtual rack and see the power consumption of the modules used.
