Thanks for the unboxing, I'm really tempted to finally hunt down a copy of this one and try it out before I jump into a monster in the series...

The Stewart and Lee in question are Alexander Peter Stewart and Stephen Dill Lee, the two "official" corps commanders in Hood's army (Cheatham was only an acting/temporary commander after William Hardee's departure from the army). Lee might have been a distant relative of the Virginia Lees, I'm not sure though. Great video as always!

Looks good. Has MMP put cost of their games up by 10-15% within year or so? Content inside box aint much for being 100, you can get It never snows cheaper than that with double amount of content inside box.

It Never Snows is 9 years old. So no, not in the last couple of years. Just looking at the parts list $100 *does* seem expensive... but I have never felt ill-used at the amount of actual play content in a GCACW game.

Most beautiful maps in wargaming? That's quite a call. I find them more interesting than beautiful. There's nothing beautiful about the forests or mountains in GCACW maps, for example. They are simply functional and do the job. The value in these maps for me is all that detail; I can use them when reading a history book, so I don't get lost. I have RtGII, and soon SJWII, so that covers a lot of the Eastern Theater. Thanks for the no-nonsense unboxing.

Me, looking for an ACW game, and never having owned an MMP published game: "Ooo, introductory? One map? Pretty map! Only 2 countersheets? Looking good! .....Wait, $100?! Yikes!"

Be that as it may, and despite my current set of reservations around MMP's processes (discussed at length elsewhere), I cannot recommend GCACW in general highly enough, and HSN is an ideal entry point. As I've mentioned, the game prices are on the high side, but the amount of play value in these boxes is through the roof. (Also, check out the NWS Wargaming Store, where you can find this at a substantial discount.)

@@ardwulfslair thank you. I'm going to watch some tutorials from Patrick's tutorial channel to see if I like the system, and then if I do I'll definitely get this. It's smaller than most of these types of games. The Civil War is a gap in my collection I have to fill.

@@caomhan84 If you don't know this system and want to see how it works, I suggest to watch Ardwulf's "Virtual Dragoons Assembly: GCACW Learning Game" here, on his channel. It is great presentation of the system for new players and really fun to watch at the same time. edit: And regarding your first GCACW game - obviously I agree with Ardwulf, but also I think you can choose any game you like. I started with Atlanta Is Ours and I am happy with my chooice. Yep, the prices are big; I said to myself: go big or go home. Many (all?) GCACW games have a lot of scenarios, and usually they start with small, easy enough to learn the system.

In typical MMP fashion, $100 for a mini game. Even in todays economy I can not see spending that amount on such little content.
@ardwulfslair

If you want to argue that the price is too high, then okay, but one map, two books, player aids, two counter sheets, 8 scenarios and a 32-turn campaign is a really funny definition of "minigame".
