we are using hail Caesar and Warhammer fantasy (for skirmishing games) basing individually on clear bases, fine for both, but for romans we base 4 to a base with 6 bases per unit.

is a 'Bill' a Halberd? I sort of always assumed a bill was the English term for halberd?

a halberd is a sharp point on a spear with an axe to the side, for use against armoured infantry and cavalry so multi-purpose, a bill is a poleaxe, literally an axe head on the end of a pole, cheep and cheerful version of what became a halberd. poleaxe probably a space in evolution to the better known version. It was a simple way to enable cheep infantry take on expensive infantry with a slightly better chance of making it home. During the peasant revolt practically the entire rebel army had pollexes as it was the only way of standing a chance. I would do a whole video on it but that's a simple version, hope it helps.

Dan Harris Bill is not a Axe, but comes from a hedging tool, the English corrupted it, adding a sharp point. Rather nasty against horse.
