Hi I just watched your video. We had a big laugh because we were struggling the same as you and others with the rubber. I see other folks are shaming us because we didn’t know you can cook silicone at hi heat! Oh well. Anyway, I read elsewhere on an internet search that the rubber keeps the tray from falling out and burning you if you are pouring, say French fries, out of the basket. Great video thanks for making it

Yes I also researched it and they’re supposed to be able to withstand the heat I believe there’s silicone but I don’t like the smell when you cook something so I took them out for sure

I had the same problem too. I believe that it is silicone and not rubber and they are there to prevent scratching/marking the in sides of the basket . If you move the tray at an angle and gently slide it down into the basket, there’s no need to bends the side protectors.

I had the same issue with the feet.....so, I, of course consulted youtube where I found your video. Crazy that you and everyone that has commented is having the same issue with the tray not fitting because of the feet!! I tried bending the legs and it still would not go in. I ended up removing the rubber pieces, although I would rather not because I see that it should keep the tray in place when dumping the food out. Poor design with the tray for sure!!

Add a lil bit of oil to the silicone feet and it will slide into place so easily.

I was struggling trying to force the tray in but then I took some oil on rubbed a little bit on all the silicone feet & I swear to God it literally falls into place now. It's insane how easy it goes in now.

Yes, they are food grade silicone, type used for baking trays etc. Completely safe. If these were plastic, I would surely remove them. Working in the injection molding business, you would not want that off gassing around food. But again, these are silicone (the soft pliable feel confirms that) and completely safe around food. Search silicone baking pans.

With your finger, gently press the left and right rubber cushions against the left and right sides, so that they are firmly against the walls. Do the same for the front and back cushions. Then gently ease the entire crisper down slowly to the bottom of the basket. You will then have a firm fit.

I had a lot of trouble at first with the rubber bits on the crisper tray. Firstly, it's not rubber, it's silicone which is safe at high heat and won't degrade. Secondly, at first it was really stiff so I forced it in and let it preheat. After it cooled enough to touch it I removed the crisper tray and then slid it in to the bottom and out again and number of times. It gets easier to take it in and out. Put it in at and angle then slowly add pressure careful not to slam it down to the bottom and risk scratching the base.

Most all air fryers have silicon on the crisper trays.....it keeps the basket from getting scratched and you can use it at different levels for all kinds of cooking. Come on people use a little common sense!!! Silicon is high temp resistant. It's not rubber...lol. An air fryer cooks by circulating heat by a fan in a small area ......very simple design.......its not rocket science.
