a loco very similar to this is the lnwr DX goods. Over 900 have been made from the 1850s -1860s and it was the most produced steam locomotive made in Britain. Some almost reached a century of service nearing the end of steam and despite all of this none were preserved. I don't know of the availability of any DX goods in OO guage but I think it is an excellent locomotive to take a look at perhaps.

Excllent handsome model. The problem with GWR Locomotives is that when you scale them down they all look remarkably similar. Something like this is a great addition to an OO layout. Well Done!

Very decent of you to give it a second chance. DG one of my favorite early generation locomotives. Once had a Dapol tender driven DG some years ago, and it was even worse than your first attempt. As every British unit has to be imported, at large expense, from the UK, it is so important that it be right first time, as shipping it back is often equal to the retail price. I am going to make a habit of watching your reviews before throwing money out the window. Having said that, I am waiting for delivery on this same model. I hope it is not a dud. Yes, I will make a donation so that we get more of your impartial reviews.

Hi Sam, I wanted one of these and after checking your review I found a new lined model for less than £100. Oxford Rail have done a great job with this loco; outstanding detail, it runs perfectly over all points and radius's, and it will only run at scale speeds (this is a bit of a pain as I can't crank it up to warp factor 9 and have my 5 year old shout "Great Western speed, that's too fast" at me). Keep up the good work, looking foreward to seeing your reviews of; Hornby Lode Star and Dapol 43xx Mogul when they get released

Informative and enjoyable review Sam. Thank you ! As I read the comments I would like to point out that "Britisch" Oxford Rail & Hornby & Bachmann loco's are "cheap" compared with their European counterparts like Roco & Fleischmann & Märklin - just to name a few. Yes, there is a difference in engineering and (slow speed running) quality but for 2 to 3 times the price ! Check prices in France were I live - you will open big eyes! That's why I converted to "British" steam loco's...and I'm very happy with the balance money / quality. And if you want nice slow speeds - well go DCC. ( I can recomment NCE Power Cab - have it running smoothly for years) All the best !
@SamsTrains
7 жыл бұрын
Hi Filip, thanks a lot for the comment! Yes that is true I suppose, but it still is a lot of money for what you get - so you at least expect a degree of quality! Thanks for the tip on the power cab, I'll look at those! Thanks for watching, Sam :)

Hopefully it is a lot better I don't know if I will be getting one yet It certainly is worth the money because these prices are how much they should cost I think all model railway companies should lower their prices because it is the reason lots of people don't get into the hobby because of high prices

Hi Sam I have been watching your Oxford Rail review on your Dean class loco. Your presentation on this was spot on. I am afraid I will be avoiding this manufacturer, as a fellow you tuber Matt Slade also had problems with his Oxford rail Adams tank loco. may I say buying cheap locos are not always the best idea, although the Hornby Railroad products do live up to there expectations. It is often better if you want quality to go with the leading manufacturers to name a few Heljen Bachmann, Hornby, Fleischmann.

Hi Oskar! According to other owners I've talked to, most of them work just fine! If yours doesn't, just take it back - and I'm sure you'd get a working replacement, like I did! Cheers mate, Sam :)

Hi Kamil - I'm no expert - but I do know the colour of the handrails on the smoke-box clearly is inaccurate! I know there are other more serious issues too - but I don't know the details! Thanks for watching - Sam :)

Hi Sam : All's well that ends well! Already ordered it from Rails, based on your review, so if their is clicking when I try it, I shall be sending you a message to revise your ratings again lol Excelllent review. (I'll be putting a touch of satin paint on the coal - all that's needed) Totally agree with your comment on some writers on RM Web - some are quite haughty - most good, I seen an excellent article by a Sam there once (think he was discussing the Evening Star :) ) Alan.

Yeah, there's a few hurtful guys over there - must most of them are very nice and knowledgeable too - much more so than I am! I'm quite happy to be criticised - it's a good way to learn - but I don't like people being nasty, that's all! Cheers mate, Sam :)
