Louis Zamperini. Olympic caliber long distance runner. Flying Fortress crewman, Stranded at sea on a raft for over 40 days, survives only to be captured by imperial Japanese forces, lives as a POW and moves through 5 different camps. Gets personally bullied by corporal(?) Wantanbe, starved, beaten, abused by all means of the word. After the war ends, he ends up forgiving the man who tortured him, but not after seeking revenge for nearly a decade and a half. Louis Zamperini is the actual definition of a hero. Edit: the movie doesn’t come close to the horrors he faced. The book is over 400 pages and it gets pretty difficult to read at some points. Read at your own risk

Shows the difference between our generations, those boys did all they could without hesitation, then nowadays people can't even handle getting told to pick up a shovel.
