I dearly miss Marko in NW. He has such a calm stage presence and a crazy good voice. But although I miss his voice on stage and NW will never be the same again. I do respect his choices. I wish him al the best and hope to see him touring again in any way or form.

I do love Marko & miss him in Nightwish but I can certainly understand his decision to leave. You’ve gotta take care of yourself first or nothing else matters. My first introduction to Nightwish was the Poet & the Pendulum so that’s my fav line-up with Marko & Jukka. The current line-up is still amazing, but we’ve all got our favorites, right? A wonderful interview…..great to see Marko again! 😊💚💜

There are enough words from Marco and other NW members to see he cut them all off completely and burnt bridges when he left. I hope they reconcile - especially with Floor who only ever called him a brother. It is really great to see him happy though and performing again.

Sounds to me, he cut just about everyone out of his life for his sanity. As he said he was in a dark place and just wanted to start over. He then got properly diagnosed and started the healing process. Now that he feels a bit better, he looks back and feels somewhat guilty for leaving the band in such a tough spot and has thoughts that they are mad at him. I'm sure they weren't pleased at the time with all the commitment they made, but they got things resolved, and time heals all wounds. I'm sure the band probably feels that Marko needs his own space and not to bug him so neither of them reach out to each other. Hopefully one day they will cross paths and talk things out so they can be friends/brothers again. It would be amazing if Marko ever decides or gets asked to do some guest shows with Nightwish again.

If you have ever been depressed enough to know it's life threatening (and he said in another interview he had thought about walking out on thin ice on an autumn night), you'd understand the only way to come back out of it is to pull away from almost everything and everybody and concentrate on finding out why it's happening and how it can be fixed. You have no energy or emotional resources for anything else. He also said in this interview that he sent a note of encouragement to Floor when he found out about her breast cancer. Those lines of communication have not been permanently cut. Pulling a life back together with needed changes when there is a strong emotional component and having to deal with the ongoing struggles of having ADHD requires time and patience, and the progression isn't linear (I speak from experience). Tarja and Marko have renewed their friendship, and the bond seems to be stronger now. To me, that bodes well for Marko and Nightwish as well.

There is no evidence that Tuomas is an "asshole." On the contrary, his colleagues, not only from Nightwish, speak highly of him. And in both "dramas" with former singers, the members of Nightwish were on his side - and not just agreed with him "so as not to lose their jobs", but expressed their own opinion why those singers were wrong. Including Marko.

Looking back, except for Samy Vanska, everyone who left Nightwish had health problems: Juka, Anette, Marko. Even Tarja has asked for fewer shows to protect her voice, and more recently Floor has had serious problems. And now Nightwish have announced that they will no longer hold shows.
@SokolRock
2 ай бұрын
Bullshit from beginning to end: Jukka left drumming but didn't leave Nightwish - he is now the CEO of their company. Anette's dismissal had nothing to do with her health, only with her behavior. Tarja played almost 100 concerts on her first solo tour, not much less than it was in Nightwish. And without any problems with her voice. Floor had cancer, but she recovered and soon returned to performing. Nightwish didn't say they wouldn't tour anymore, just that they were taking a break. And it is known that Floor was against it, so it has nothing to do with her.

@@SokolRock Don't bullshit me, too many health problems in this band. Jukka is still there but he It has nothing to do with music or concerts, only business. Anette's dismissal had anything to do with her health despite Nightwish claims "split with Anette wasn't because of pregnancy or illness". She was hospitalized due to illness during the concert held on September 2012 and one month later she was replaced with Floor. Once upon a Tour had 130 shows, sometime they had two shows without one day break between. Century Child Tour: 5 September 2003 Atlanta US, 6 September Montreal Ca, 7 September New York, easy, right? On Nightwish official page they say "hanging up our spurs for an indeterminate time, as far as live concert performances go, and won't be touring the next album. The reasons for this decision are personal, but, we all agree" So? Floor was against it but all agree. PS I love NW and I listen their music almost every day but something is not right there.

@@SokolRock The stupid conspiracy theory is your conclusion at my post, and the temporary break from touring is for an indeterminate time. @@SokolRock It's probably a little of both perspectives. Tuomas has some narcissist tendencies, but members put up with them and adapted to them. That doesn't change the fact he's played God with the band. The tour schedule has been more insane than most other bands in the world. I recently started tracking Gary Numan, and he has a similar schedule, and came down with COVID, twice. Two of his band members also declared their retirements. There is some drama between the members, and it comes across every time a question comes about that Tarja or Marco is asked to answer. They don't forcefully dismiss the conspiracies, but they leave room for empathy, regrets, and often try not to answer those questions. That in itself is a confession. It's probably not as bad as conspiracies make it out to be. It's likely neither Marco nor Tarja hate Tuomas. They look back, and see a mistake that can't be corrected. Being friends wasn't the mistake. Nightwish wasn't the mistake. Firing Tarja was. Their views are likely complicated. A lot of good music has come out of the separation of the band that would not exist if it never happened. A lot of relationships have gotten closer because of the separations. I think everyone is acting like adults, censoring the baggage from the public, and likely always will. I don't think it's necessarily unsafe to work in Nightwish. It's unsafe to work in Finland, and a 365 tour schedule that kills all artists. That amplifies the problems of dealing with a band leader like Tuomas. I am probably more like Tuomas than I can write here. My imagination is also endless. I also offend people purely by existing. But those who stick around get really close, once they accept those parts of me. I love Tarja and Marco. I like Tuomas. Nightwish is not the same band anymore. It's become chaotic. After Human: II, the music feels .... different. It used to be art. Now.... it's a Secular campaign against God (They have always had touches of this, but it wasn't political before; it was art). I prefer the joy in Marco and Tarja's eyes, the charity concerts and albums, and the youth energy they have now. Nightwish has gone into dark and Decay, which makes it feel like most other bands. It used to be exciting because it was the one metal act based on Life.

It’s just good to see Marko come through the other side of his ‘mid-life crisis’ - next, nostalgia will come to mess with his head. It’s not uncommon for creative souls to feed off the positive affirmation of those that admire the things we do - and we all do it for attention to varying degrees, and we’re all affected by the negative too, and it’s usually around 3:30am when the human body is a it’s lowest ebb, if the mind is awake (as it so often is as we age) then deep sleep is affected, we don’t rest fully, we no longer feel the same natural ‘high’ from the things we do, life can become very miserable very quickly, anxiety takes over and it’s a frightening position for an otherwise confident man to be in - it can be a very surreal and disturbing period in a person’s life - a time of great change. I’m glad he came through it relatively quickly, but it’s still a journey in progress, on average taking up to ten years to complete - happiness does return though, for most. It’s encouraging to listen to him as he learns new things about himself and people in general - life is no picnic, especially after it’s felt like a picnic for quite some time. I wish him all the best for his future, he’s in charge of his own destiny, nobody else - but he likes to please other’s - he’s clearly learned to say ‘no’ more often, I’m very happy for him.
