Absolutely killing the boulder and then getting told good job by Beth Rodden. Legend.

I just read about this problem in Revelations. According to Moffatt, he was in Yosemite to climb the Nose when he saw this problem and decided to spend the trip on it instead. He says he didn't eat for a week leading up to the send, even microwaved his chalk the night before for an extra edge. What's wild is that he didn't use a heel hook to the first hold (either he couldn't or didn't think of it), and when he caught it his feet cut out. Afterwards, when he had sent the problem, he went to Ron Kauk's house, who "had a computer" with a thesaurus on it (this was 1993). He looked up the word "power" and found "dominate" and thought, "yeah, that." Thus, the Dominator. What a send! And what a nice striped shirt!

@@Mousehansen So there is a limit to how hard someone can push the pain/endurance/effort/etc that their bodies are capable of persevering through. In climbing it could be narrowed to how hard you can push without essentially falling or failing, for whatever reason you may be falling or failing. That is when the extra gear comes in, there is a way in which through pure will power and metal strength you may activate an extra physical level above your current one for a brief moment. It is incredibly hard to do and not many climbers or athletes for that matter know how to activate it, some people may go their entire life’s without ever feeling the extra gear! It is what makes two let’s say same level athletes, separate each other. In most occasions one was able to activate the extra gear and the other one only reached limit.

WOW, this is the perfect Mellow video: the hard crimping, cool drop knee, beautiful yosemite boulder, but then the send itself, man that was cool, you could tell she was totally in a flow state of pure execution and willpower through those last few moves ("I blacked out" - blacking out is a key sign of pure flow state). Heck yeah those kinds of sends happen only like 10 times in a lifetime and probably this was one of them.

This is why we climb. This send had every aspect of climbing in it. The Calm, the poetry, the joy, the try, the mindset, the power, the poise, the passion and of course the smiles climbing brings us. Katie Lamb you went Full Samurai on that one. Total Mushin. How glorious was the rest of your day. How glorious will the rest of your week be!!! MUSHIN, a Samurai term for when you execute the correct technique at the right time.
