Mine all died... Ugh.. Just after 3 1/2 weeks it’s so sad. My water parameters were all 0 (ammonia, nitrite, etc) They lived with a betta in a 10 gallon bubble bowl. The water was also mature enough. I cycled it for about 3 weeks. There were 14 neons and 1 betta. I do very frequent water changes too, about 25% every 3-4 days.

Thanks for spotlighting this species! I recently put four Julii Corys and 4 Black Neons in a heavily planted 16 gallon (no other fish in the tank), and they are beautiful and get along very well. They stand out from the plants and add a lovely sporadic flash to the tank as they catch the light. I added a single catappa leaf to the tank and all of the fish seemed to love it. It is not enough to darken the water, but the slight increase in tannins must have made the tank more comfortable for them in some way. Love your channel, and learning so much from you!

Hi Rachel - I know this an older vid, but was hoping you might be able to help me. I bought a group of six of these for my 20L planted tank. My water parameters seem to be fine, but I don't have a dKh test kit. The issue is that I have had them for two weeks now and they are always in the bottom corner of the tank schooling tightly and breathing fast. The only other livestock is a group of panda cories. I have researched, but cannot seem to figure out what is stressing them. Also, they will eat, but go right back to schooling in the corner. Have you ever had this kind of issue with them? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for all the great vids!

I've been debating on what tetra I wanted to add a good group of into my daughter's planted 30, I think I'm either going with black neons or embers. But surprisingly I'm finding both hard to come by locally! I'll probably be waiting til it warms up and have to order from you.

Embers are my favorite they also school very well actually better than the black neon's in my opinion. Stay away from the neon tetras they die so easily stick with the black neon's cardinal tetras or other tetras. Glolight tetras are also hardy very pretty and also school nicely. You can't go wrong with the ember Tetras though.

Hi , this hasn't got anything to do with neons , But I have never seen this before ...My veil Angel (the biggest and flawless) is acting weird, swimming fast left and right and jerking , all water parameters are in good range, Its not swim bladder bc she is not falling or turning upside down. Any ideas what happened (I know your not here) i did give them blood worms today, and I swear every time i do something happens to my best fish, I tried searching for answers on youtube but to no avail. Thanks for being there , I know you know more than me,I don't want to lose her.

This is off topic but I found your chanel looking at pond builds for turtles and filtration systems. Love this channel btw want to get into the hobby, But I really want to have fish in a pond with hatchlings. I understand that not all turtles will let the fish be and may eat some. I'm wondering what you think the best fish would be to do that with?(Anyone scrolling through comments welcome to reply!) I've seen that when hatchlings are raised in a tank with fish they just become part of their environment. I also know that a smaller faster fish that can out run and out smart a turtle would be a good choice in case the hatchlings do try to eat the fish.

they were a forgotten gem for me. Can anyone help me? Im planning on stocking a 55 gallon with an angelfish, corydoras, a pleco, and a moderately small schooling fish (not sure yet). My pH is 8.4 and my TDS is 200 ppm. I've asked for advice and most people say it's fine for me to stock them with high pH. Is this true? Also what small schooling fish would be good to co-exist with an angel?
