Is it true that french people can't understand you if you speak wrong? I mean, in Spanish if you pronounce wrongly a word or sentence, we can guess what you're trying to say. But i heard many times that French people can't guess it if your pronunciation is wrong. Is that true?

Just like the English people do: watchu, 'bout it(where you pronounce only 'bou-it when speaking fast), wanna, gonna, gotta, wassup, and so on. Actually, every country does that with their language, but when you grow up with your language, you just don't realise it.

I learned in college, then just watched a lot of videos on youtube about learning french. Then was able to understand cartoons for kids about 6 or 7 years old. Then moved onto Documentaries in french (easy to understand because narrators speak clearly). Now almost done with the first Harry Potter book in french and just ordered Eragon in french. It seems a little more difficult but I think I can handle it. We'll see. ha. Still can't understand movies or tv shows for adults very well though. They use slang and a lot of informal contractions which you don't really learn much especially reading because they spell all the words out and separate them by the strict french language rules.

@kepala kentang the French language is a bit complicated and needs a lot of explanation, words change based on the subject being masculine or feminine. I watched French pod for 7 months and barely had more than 20 words down, I found youtubers that broke down and explained words and in 3 months I can speak quite a bit, even had a small chat with a native French speaker I ran into... French Pod just says a word, throws in a long sentence fast and moves on.. its really not that helpful if you want to get fluent in the language.
