I'm no scientist, but even if the gene could be fixed, it would probably be too late for a fetus, let alone a full-grown adult (by then, you're dealing with a whole body, full of damaged genes). If there was a more opportune time to fix the mutation, my best guess would be that what needs to be done would involve CRISPR, and should be applied to the fertilized egg cell (or perhaps separately to the egg cell and then the sperm cell).

Thank you for your answer and please pray for me I recently had tested for the brca mutation and the test came out positive so the dr is retesting me again just to be on the safe side, very scared please keep in your prayers that the test results comes out negative this time.
