I love the interviews with Sir Steven! Clarity with a good spiritual foundation.

Followed steven wilkinson for years but rarely interviewed which is sad because he takes one step back and looks at the context which is critical at this point in the cycle. Thanks Jay - appreciate you are doing more of this "step back" interviews and it makes very good sense in a world where betting on Nvidia is fairly irrelevant.

Coming out of facing alot, I knew two things about the stock market: It caused the Great Depression, and the fastest way to make a million on the markets was to start with two million. And then the Great Recession happened only a few years later. So yeah, I wish someone had better explained it to me earlier in life. Having a good entry and exit strategy and sound technical analysis will make you succeed in the market..... I have managed to grow a nest egg of around 100k to a decent 432k in the space of a few months... I'm especially grateful to Francine Duguay, whose deep expertise and traditional trading acumen have been invaluable in this challenging, ever-evolving financial landscape.

Jay, would you please bring him back to explain libertarianism? His approach to Christian libertarianism strikes me as liberty with a wise, solid foundation. Who is good to read on the topic?

Good discussion. However, Sir Stephen gets it wrong when he says the nation state is obsolete due to the impact of technology and economies of scale. What he fails to recognize is there is a direct link between the productive capacity of a state that makes technological development, fielding, sustainment, and disposal possible and the population of the nation state. The population must be of sufficient quality, quantity, and motivation to enable that productive capability and capacity necessary for artificial warriors. The primary difference is limited to who/what makes contact with the adversary. The population demographic requirements are similar in both cases.

He says that the nation state will go away because it's not necessary or needed anymore. What? Let's look at the UK. If it dissolved into England, Wales and Scotland, those "new" nation states would be far more cohesive and nationalistic! In the book "Man, the state and war," the author makes a very good case for the rise of the modern nation state being driven by the needs of a gunpowder army. (Which made castles obsolete, thus paving the way for minor aristocrats to be subsumed, as offense overwhelmed defense. Drones shift the balance of power back to the defense (at least for the moment), but this doesn't necessarily mean that there aren't advantages to scale. It could be that an advance in technology makes drones obsolete, which could shift the balance back towards offense, and the benefits of scale. He could very well be correct that where the US goes, there goes the rest of the west... but one of the key features of a Fourth Turning is that we have no idea where it may lead

Part of the deffinition of money is a store of value. Fiat currencies don't meet that definition. Gold holds it's value but can't be used for most transactions. If you want something that meets all the definitions of money we don't have money in almost all countries. The sorry state of affairs in 2024. Thanks to the politicians and central bankers buying votes.
