Myofascial pain is a common diagnosis and is an accompanying diagnosis in many of the conditions seen in my clinic. Myofascial pain is pain arising from the muscles and soft tissue of the body. An orange is a useful analogy. The skin is the peel which once removed reveals the fruit (muscle) and the connective tissue, the little white part (fascia). The fascia or connective tissue helps give the muscle structure and can be a culprit in musculoskeletal pain.
