Rabbi, i was born to an Irish mother and a Sicilian father and into the Catholic Church, but I watch your videos and listen to your lessons and what you say resonates with me so deeply, especially this one. I'm disabled due to a work accident and in constant pain for 13 years now. My condition is one of slow, gradual deterioration of the injured areas. People often say they're amazed at how well I'm handling it. To be honest, it's crossed my mind a few times too! But I know how and why, praise God, and I don't mind telling them. I started writing this to say that you, (for lack of a better and less cliché word,) "validate" my thoughts and understanding of life. It's obviously not "a Jewish thing" we share in common! So, I'm thinking it must be our connection to The Creator of the Universe! The Almighty God and the total trust we have in Him. Long ago I stopped trying to figure out His plan for the world and my life and started just being grateful for His blessings and grace. I decided watching my life unfold in His time, guiding me on the crazy path He had long ago drawn out for me and feeling safe against all harm as He guides my every step along the way was a much better way to live. Even the very painful steps, because each one has a purpose for HIM at that moment! And a purpose for me, for another time. The experience of life certainly changes once a person truly submits to trusting God! Thank you for sharing your wisdom and insights! Shalom aleichem!

Thank you, Rabbi Manis. What about situations where the anxiety does make a difference though? For example worrying that staying up all night, not being able to sleep affects your baby’s health during pregnancy? Which it does. This was the situation i was living with in my 1st pregnancy and it was hell. Now I have those moments again and I fear that I may not be able to go forward with another pregnancy. And extending my family is my biggest dream.

thank you for addressing such hard topic. there is a fine line between relaxing by letting it go & not caring. this balance is very hard to achieve. i think that struggle for better life, with real events, real battles and study of The Torah is the key of our growth. as usual, balance is the hardest. all day study or weeks without study are not healthy for our body and spirit.

Agree Rabbi Manis .. trusting G-d's love casts out fear , and hearing His words builds trust . the root of stress is condemnation which leads to fear then to stress and which can cause physical/mental problems - answer is build trust ... peace+love>

Hi Rabbi, thank you for your kind words. I have anxiety after menopause. I remember when l was my 20’s l do have a little anxiety. But l didn’t know what wrong with me. Then it’s stopped for 30 years. After 30 years l started to have anxiety till now l do have anxiety off and on. l don’t know what the reason?? I can feel it when the anxiety slowly creeping in. I just have to accept it. But l do take some natural herbs 🌿 to reduce my anxiety. It’s helpful. Lately l know that when lm worries l do have anxiety. But sometimes l don’t have any worries l do have anxiety. Yes lm a worrier person. Thinking to much. Conscious or not consciously l don’t what the real reason. I most happy person is to have peace in ourselves. I saw your message about The real story Adam and Eve. My tears 😭 just naturally come out. Many thanks to you Rabbi🌸🌸🌸

People who are compassionate - feel sympathy or are genuinely empathetic, sensitive - actually feel what others are feeling. Literally, they feel for them. It's as if their nervous systems extend out from their bodies. Fear, anxiety and stress often come from without and impose themselves on such people. Questions like "what difference does it make?" simply don't help anymore than telling someone to not scream "ouch" when they are hit on the head by a hammer.

My father says all the time: Is worrying going to change anything? No? Then why worry? I feel this is inhumane. It's just my reaction, like how the leg stretches' when the doctor hits it with his hammer. I now treat anxiety like something normal, a healthy reaction to a problem. It is INACTION that is the cause of our suffering. When you treat anxiety as a stimuli, a spark to ACT, it becomes a useful companion. Do not take this to the extreme. You're gonna do great.

THE AMAZING JEWISH MYSTICISM Dear Rabbi Since when I read the Hebrew Bible, in 2016 at the age of 63, when I read about Avraham in which THE ETERNAL Decreed that all Nations will be blessed by him and, later, about Shelomon who loved women of all ethnicities I noticed that the destiny of YERUSHALAIM (Jerusalem) would be to welcome all the spiritual descendants of Avraham with no distinctions of ethnicity. As the proselytes I met in 2016 abhorred these observations of mine, I wrote together with the fragments of an article I wrote in honor of my grandfather Maurício Samuel and a late physics professor Abraham Moyses Cohen, in the Manaus Synagogue in particular to dear Rabbi David Benchimol these my OBSERVATIONS that are being verified today. What I think is EXTREME is the fact that many only understand the Professions when they happen making them more likely to tell the heretics that it was pure coincidence. My cordial Shalom

Depends on how much a person values life, young people have a greater desire, there are those whom have a death wish. Are we not told to fear? I'm 'not' indifferent to those that worry, to those that have adversity, to poor people.

Of course what you say is true “logically” but anxiety stems from subconscious fears not conscious rational fears. So when someone is anxious it is usually because something within them is triggered. Something more often than not they have no clue about. Today neuroscience has shown that as much as 95% of our actions are motivated by subconscious programs. Would you not agree?
@chayagross6885

JFI it is only true if you know what is making you anxious. Many have anxiety and can’t always attribute it to a particular incident.
