How honeybees contribute to global food security: historically, present contributions and challenges, and future vision.
European honeybees are a key contributor to the quality and volume of the human diet through the pollination of plants. They were introduced into agricultural and natural systems around the world by humans. Highly reactive to changes in the environment, honeybee health concerns are reflective of the many challenges in the modern reality of global agriculture. In this presentation, we will explore the multifaceted role of beekeeping around the world, the amazing communication capabilities of honeybees as a superorganism, how to improve the sustainability of beekeeping, and a few more key bee facts.
