You mention common items in deco design. I'm pretty old and when I was a kid a lot of this stuff was still around in peoples' homes. I didn't appreciate it at the time but I do now. It's good to see that style again. I wish it would come back.

Great video! I've been puzzled about how to create something to look art deco without turning it into cubism. You nailed it

Hello! I’m a amateur designer working on finishing his own home; the esthetic I’m creating is “what would a person do to update his 1905 home in 1927”. Sounds crazy, but it is already done and very successful if I say so myself. I found wallpaper first printed in 1927 that looks like drapery fabric on your wall, and another wallpaper printed in 1922 with white cranes, etc. I built period 1905 woodwork throughout the house including accurate wainscoting and a Tudor roofrail (to provide the 1905 bones upon which to put the Art Deco decor. Now I need inspiration for the interior shutters to cover the lower portion of the window. I’m a carpenter so I will make them out of wood. Is there a resource you recommend for ideas? Thanks.

I would research some of the artists I mentioned in this and use that as a point of design... perhaps. Best of luck, it sounds cool.

@@artedguru thank you. Last night an idea came to me… take the stylized flower from the wallpaper and cut that out of a piece of beadboard and frame it nicely. Like a Frank L Wright perforated plywood clerestory window but as a shade for the lower sash only. Thanks for the input.
