Compare to notching , i find that Wambugu apple trees response more rapidly to to heavy pruning for branch development. Likewise, they're very vigorous on Seedling Rootstocks.

I think the best word you can use is pruning, everytime after flowering I think you should do pruning or tipping where you cut off the tips to encourage the plant to bring in more new growth which is beneficial to the fruiting of that plant

This is wonderful. I am considering this madam Kate. I am intrested to learn how this particular farmer circumvented the chanllanges of this rocky area. I have an area which is more of this (rocky) (Juru around Mrehwa area in Zimbabwe), if l plant trees they can survive for 4 years and suddenly die. How can l go about it if l want to put Wambugu Apples.

If you want to get more shoots for more fruit, you scratch the main stem to prevent it from growing and vitamins are transferred to another shoot for more fruit. Does the main stem where you cut heal and continue to grow to give fruit.

@kingjoshuamhuamk2559

Good intelligent question and the answer is yes it will interfere with pollen purity the trick is to make sure all tree buds have mature fruits by the time the millet is flowering so timing for planting is crucial

600 apple trees per acre, that will make 3000 trees. You can do a spacing of 3meters from oner row to the other, and 1.5 to 2 meters between trees( at 1.5m between trees you can accommodate more than 600 trees per acre but to do this, the sun must be able to reach all trees well)
