Climate change is significantly impacting cultural heritage, which is a valuable source of knowledge and inspiration for future generations. Strategies for safeguarding and restoring cultural heritage are crucial, not only at international or national levels but also at the local level. Effective solutions related to environmental sustainability are essential. Strategic processes for preserving cultural heritage sites will be key to successful methodologies for protecting worldwide. In-depth talks on underwater cultural heritage in Mozambique, research potential, opportunities, and management challenges will be discussed.
Meet our speaker Cezar Mahumane who will be talking about “Underwater Cultural Heritage in Mozambique: Current Research, Potential Opportunities and Management Challenges” in session 02 titled “Climate Change & Cultural Heritage”.

Topic: Underwater Cultural Heritage in Mozambique: Current Research, Potential Opportunities and Management Challenges.
The Underwater Cultural Heritage (UCH) of Mozambique and the Indian Ocean, a shared heritage of national, regional, and international interest, has been affected by centuries of interaction with Persia, Arabia, India, and Europe. The Indian Ocean holds significant research potential due to archaeological remains found underwater. However, climate change and new challenges demand new research methodologies and strategies, requiring community-based programs, research institutions, and management strategies.
