I heard about a system being developed to help provide new homes for fish when coral reefs are being damaged by climate change. It's something called "reef balls." After someone dies and cremated, their ashes are combined with an eco friendly cement mixture, which is then made into little monuments. Those little monuments are customized, engraved, decorated, and then placed into the ocean as an artificial reef. The systems helps to preserve not only their memories, but also life on Earth. As King Mufasa would say, "And so we are all connected in the great Circle of Life." ❤🌊🌞

Microplastics are so prevalent in everything we consume from meat, vegetables, fish and even water that fearing them in fish is like getting scared of getting dust on you from other people's clothes in a desert. Microplastics are a massive issue we are still fully unsure of, yes, but it's not just limited to the fishing industry.

Thanks!! Super interesting and important topic. As a Chilean I’m aware of how dangerous industrial fishing can be; we’ve had a couple of major contamination episodes in Chiloe and other places from salmon fishing. Thankfully lots of fish farmers here have started leaving their production in lakes and going inland, and I hope new Chilean industries take the restorative fishing approach you show here! That would also help our local fishermen, who have lost a lot of their job to big scale fisheries.

@curranfrank2854

No, that's not what they're saying, but you have to admit the benefits of growing them in regenerative farms are intriguing. And, frankly, people will need to make changes in their lifestyle if we want to combat climate change and other environmental issues effectively. A lot of those changes will be related to our food, by wasting less of it, and reducing our consumption of animals and animal products or switching to more sustainable products, like shellfish.
@alexanderhuang1447

Lots of people are going to be very stubborn about changing the way they live to a more sustainable lifestyle. They've grown used to their normal behavior and many won't want to modify it just because they don't want to. Hopefully the younger generations will be able to adapt more easily in the future.

That's not feasible for everyone. some people have health conditions that make veganism extremely difficult, and massive parts of the planet are not suitable for growing food crops (but still suitable for growing grasses.) On top of that, there exist plenty of people around the world who legitimately rely on livestock for survival. That said, we definitely eat far too much meat at the moment, and things need to be cut back drastically.

Farming oysters is unfortunately not that simple. If you don’t keep a close eye in water quality at all times, all the bad stuff they feed on, harmful chemicals and such, will go to humans. This means that an unfortunate tide or surrounding human activity can completely ruin an entire harvest. Oysters are a great solution to improving water quality, but if they are to be used for human consumption they cannot just absorb anything. If there happens to be some sort of contamination you essentially lose a bunch of resources and biomass
