Bitter Springs in Mataranka - if you’ve been you’ll know what I mean when I say this place is incredible! This is our second time here and it was just as magical as the first. We are here with our friends Karly & Jacob 😁 Our advice? Get there early (around 7:30) as there are less people, the sun rising between the trees and steam across the water is something you have to experience. Don’t forget your floatie as the current will take you from one end to the other where you get out, walk up and do it all again 🫶🏼 A mask/goggles is also a great idea as what’s under the water is even more unreal than what’s on top! If you’re lucky you might see a couple of turtles 🐢 and plenty of little fish 🐟 We stayed at the Mataranka Homestead last time, but this time we are at the Bitter Springs Cabins & Camping which is a short 500m walk to the springs. It’s not as dusty here as at the other campground. We’ve had a great 2 nights with a quick visit to Mataranka Springs today - which we don’t think is as good as Bitter. The water temp is cooler and it’s usually a lot busier. But - you have to see them both at least once! Or twice 😁💦 Fun facts: Spring water rises from underground at a rate of 30.5million litres per day and the water is very warm all year round. Chris’s Apple Watch said it was 31°c (at Bitter - it was much cooler at Mataranka). Have you been? Which one do you prefer? Bitter or Mataranka? 💦#aussiedestinationsunknown #adunt #bittersprings #thermalsprings #cuinthent #northernterritory #swim #placesweswim
