I used to see sand dollars in huntington beach in the 1970-80s but not now? What happened to them?

Nice. It’s my home town. No wonder I never got any fish when fishing in the 90s. We use to hit manhattan pier and Long Beach jetties at night. All types of fish, we use to have a blast drinking cold ones talking fooling around.

I used to go to Redondo all the time in the late 70's when I was in high school. Always wondered why there was so much debris in the water... crazy that it's still there! Had to wash off before going home 'cause there was so much stuck to me whenever I got out of the surf...

I used to dive off that pier for coins from the tourist, starting in 1973... they never was a lot of fish in the waters there, but rarely I saw a halibut, & various other species. Mostly there was jellyfish. 🪼 there was a bed of sand-dollars there, like there is today. So although overfishing is a massive problem, at least the sand-dollars are filling in the seabed. At least it's not a desert.
