Today we will be covering the 2019B7 question, "Describe how morbid obesity might affect washout after inhalation anaesthesia."
A basic structure can be created by first answering the question: "What are the factors that affects washout?" followed by "How does Morbid Obesity affect these factors?"
The washout factors that Morbid Obesity affects are:
• Uptake of Volatile Agent into Vessel Rich Group, Muscle and Fat compartments
• Cardiac Output
• Minute Ventilation
• Hepatic Metabolism
Independent Factors that can affects these agents include:
• Choice of Agent
• Fresh Gas Flow
• Concentration Dialled
Thank you also to Dr Cristy Rowe, Dr Faser Capill and Dr Bi Wen Lau for participating.
