I think the Johto city names, in English, are based on plants/flowers in addition to colors. - Cherrygrove City = Cherry (color and fruit) + grove - Violet City = Violet (color and flower) - Azalea Town = Azalea (color and flower) - Goldenrod City = Goldenrod (color and flower) - Ecruteak City = Ecru (color) + teak (wood) - Olivine City = Olive (color and fruit) + vine - Cianwood City = Cyan (color) + wood - Mahogany Town = Mahogany (color and wood) - Blackthorn City = Black + thorn Which works well with New Bark Town to tie the theme together.

14:22 I don’t get annoyed by it, but every time I see someone get annoyed by them making the games easier and more accessible I think of two things. 1) my cousin’s 10yo with a learning disability who from being around him also seems to have a hard time with attention span and 2) Frank’s video of teaching his mom to play Pokémon. Accessibility isn’t for our generation. I love that kids who are still learning and older people who never grew up with the games can learn and play with us. I love that people even with reading disabilities and a hard time paying attention can still get into it easily enough. Neither little dude or mom will have to look up a type chart since it’ll always be right there next to each move (which btw I’m playing persona right now which is a whole adult’s game and they do the same thing and no one complains about it 🤨). Anyways this has gone on too long I just think it’s nice!!!!
@anthonynguyen1289

There are Persona fans complaining the games got easier with each subsequent entry. Also the type chart isn’t a type chart. Each enemy just has random weaknesses or strengths and you can’t gauge that like you could gauge most fire type pokemon are weak to water. The fire looking demon might be weak to ice or it might actually absorb it in Persona.
@sadraccoonboy

@@anthonynguyen1289 true true that’s fair enough. Also I haven’t seen people complaining about that! I’ve seen plenty of other complaints but never that it was getting easier. Guess I just never came across it

@@sadraccoonboy it just depends where you go. A lot of people like to say Persona 5 especially Royal are way too easy. These people are usually people who came into the franchise much earlier

To be accurate, accessibilty is to accomodate as many disabled players of any age as possible. The side effect with any sort of changes to accomodate disabled people is that they tend to benefit everyone. Look as sidewalk ramps and automatic doors for real world examples. Those accomodations for mobilty-related disabilities make getting to places easier for everyone as a side effect. Accessibility changes in video games can have the same side effect - it potentially makes the game easier for people who do not have the specific type of disability being accomodated, but also potentially allows more people to just be able to play the game. (Note: I say potentially because there are so many types of disabilities, and people can have comorbid disabilities that can negate the effects of an accomodation that only targets one of their disabilities.) The only real difference is that RL accomodations don't tend to get abled people complaining that their lives are easier because of them, unlike ones in gaming.

This so much! It's a good thing that the games are still so accessible for new players of varying ages. For someone who grew up with the franchise and who played every game, something like showing effectiveness shouldn't even matter because you'd probably know it already anyway. And if the enemy AI is on the smarter side (Indigo Disk DLC E4 come to mind), you can't just cheese through with type effectiveness anyway. Still think Pokémon nowadays should have a difficulty setting at the beginning of the game, so that people already into the franchise (which, at this point, I think they should account for) get what they want and beginners still can start out without trouble

Barely any games that come out nowadays come even close to the limit of their consoles. Back then, min-maxing some of your data was almost a necessity for some consoles in order to produce an even somewhat competent game. Now, everyone and their mom throws 10+ MB image files into their games willy nilly and it still works because the console more than accounts for it. Not to say that it results in bad games - really good games still come out at a consistent pace. But it still feels weird seeing how lax so many devs are now with optimizing their games in terms of storage space, when just 20 years ago pretty much all the top dogs of the gaming industry were racing to see who could compress their data the most efficiently.

The fact that there was a Cizayox‚ Tyranitar and Magnezone prime makes me think a good gimmick for them could be that they have a single x4 weakness to compensate for their strength. It would not change much‚ but notably Donphan Prime would have a biilt-in way to bypass its ability
