Hey everyone! This month I'm taking a look at one of the most influential PlayStation titles of all time - the legendary Tomb Raider for PS1! This game was undoubtedly revolutionary for its time, and it's not hard to see why. But the question is, does it still stand the test of time?
As usual, I take a look at the game in its entirety. However, it should be noted that I was obviously unable to discuss absolutely every level in the game in great detail as the video would have been excessively long. Instead, I decided to discuss what I considered to be some of the game's most memorable puzzles. And yes, you can tell that I was a little rusty to begin with. Jumping is hard, okay?
Special thanks to Mark David for the request, and to those of you who have recommended Tomb Raider games before - I figured Lara Croft's debut was logical place to start. No special thanks to the guy who decided to start mowing his lawn partway into my recording this video.
Notes:
16:22 - I say it’s a wooden door. At least I think it’s wooden. It looks wooden. It might not be though. Does anybody really care that much? I don’t know. I’m overthinking.
17:22 - I say you need more hieroglyphs to enter the sphinx, but you actually need to find two ankhs. Ankhs are technically hieroglyphic symbols anyway though, so I guess I’m being a little pedantic.
19:55 - I chose the take with the best delivery here and later realised I’m not doing finger guns properly. It just looks like I’m blowing my fingers for no reason. Oops.
24:42 - Not sure why this scene randomly looks really bright but you can still see what’s happening, assuming you weren’t blinded.
Finally - I want to make it clear that, while at times I can sound a little overly critical, I am well aware that this game was impressive for its time, both in terms of the graphics and gameplay.
