As a boomer and a Seinfeld fan, I was excited to see this. SO disappointing. I could barely finish it. Might have been best presented as a 10 minute SNL bit. Ah well.

Thanks so much for your thoughts! It seems like I definitely enjoyed it more than many, and even my grade was only so-so.

If you want to see if Jim Gaffigan can act, watch a movie called "Linoleum." He's actually a very good actor. He was not required to act in this movie. It is--and was meant to be--cartoonish.

Thanks for the tip! I wasn't just basing his acting on this film, I watched a few episodes of his sitcom from a few years ago as well. But I'll check out Linoleum

I’m a Seinfeld fan who thought the writing was uneven and wish it had more laughs for me. On a positive note I did enjoy the performances and the writing with Cronkite, JFK, and the full cereal honors scene which was so bad it was good. It had kind of a Monty Python feel to it. If the whole movie was like that it could have become a cult classic.

It definitely had its moments, I do think the JFK and Cronkite bits were a lot of fun. Thanks for your thoughts!

Don't be surprised if it does become such a classic.

Hello Dan 😊 David here I been a Movie buff for over fifty years and I agree with most of your review, I am the target audience for this movie I was born in 1955 So I got all most all of the jokes, but the I joke I was very upset about was the January 6, one. And I was very disappointed that you Dan thought it was funny. I been having a big discussion with people on KZitem and on Facebook. Some people agree with me that you should not make a joke about January 6. Others. are saying they are making fun of just the man with the horns on. I see the big picture, a scene that doesn’t fit with the 1960’s nostalgia of the movie. I feel very bad for the families of the victims who died and were injured that dark day in in America. I suspect the reason people are defending the scene is because they are 45 supporters. It is so sad that one person has torn the whole country apart. I liked about 80 percent of the movie. It was obvious that it was a vanity Project and Netflix pick up the tab. It is the same joke over and over and over again. 🍿🍿🍿 out of 5 popcorn boxes from me. I did call Netflix to complain about that scene and yes you can do that. I spoke to a live operator she read a script and made a note of my complaint. I know that he will not see it. I hope he looks at Facebook and You Tube to see what people think about his film. See you at the movies, 😊

Huh that's interesting you can actually call a live person at Netflix and complain about something! I actually hear that the new Jeff Daniels TV show from the UK that Netflix is showing in the US has people up in arms because it shows a fully.... engorged man, let's say. So I'm guessing there will be a lot of complaints for that one. Well please don't mistake me enjoying that scene lampooning Jan. 6th as any kind of endorsement of a certain person I won't even bring myself to name. I believe that humor can carry us through most things. SNL has also poked fun at the horrors of that day, and Seinfeld's old show even poked fun at something as serious as Schindler's List and his buddy Larry David has certainly made humor from some of our darkest moments as humans. But I can see your point as well. Thanks so much for taking the time to comment!

I enjoyed the movie. I thought it was funny. I haven't seen Seinfield in a long time. A lot of cameos, a lot of historical references. It wasn't the funniest movie i've ever seen but like you said it was okay.

Yeah I definitely was laughing at parts. I've started watching the 5-6 minute clips the Seinfeld channel puts up on KZitem, a handful every night before bed, because I also hadn't seen the show in awhile. It still is so freaking hysterical. The clips are good because it breaks up all the clips of one plot line per episode, so it just follows (for example) Elaine's story for whatever episode it is and her interactions with the others about that story, so it's like a mini episode kind of. Idk if I'm explaining it right, but it's been great to remind myself of that talented cast again! But yeah the movie was okay for me :)
