My library worker heart really appreciated your note on libraries. 1) a lot of people don’t know you can donate books to your local library 2) just a humble note to anyone who has ever had the random thought that you aren’t “needy” enough to use the library. I’ve had several people tell me they don’t use their library for fear of taking resources. Sure, maybe if you’re a billionaire, but being an active user of your library is so so good for library systems and helps us make sure we can be around for years and years to provide the community with resources!!

Just a silly simple thing, but I love the fact that you keep the book cover pic up in the screen the whole time you’re talking about it. Please keep doing that, cause it’s a little frustrating when people show the book for a second and then talk about it for five minutes without ever mentioning the title again. You do so many things in your videos so well and they’re so easy to watch and listen to, but I just wanted to highlight this thing in particular. Thanks for all you do!

Ty for mentioning that libraries are such a good resource. So far this year I have read 51 books, and every single one of them has been from the library or available on Kindle Unlimited. The library is such an amazing resource that connects people to knowledge that they might not have had access to otherwise. ❤

I'm a big fan of sprinkling donations throughout a few local Little Free Libraries! This way I know they're directly benefitting someone who really wants the books rather than possibly being thrown into a dumpster, overcharged to customers, or sold to resellers who'll mark them way up online. It would also help those who can't pay for books at all or get to a library. I'm seriously considering registering one to place in front of my house before the end of the year. 📚

Even more excited when the love interest's brain used to be a priest-- and then the next 15 seconds made my smile and excitement die out. Absolutely insane book THE FIRST HALF OF THE DESCRIPTION SOUNDED KIND OF FIREEE 😭😭😭 could have so much going on with the love interest's identity crisis and previous life and Angelika realizing that Making a person For Herself in that way was weird etc etc like there were so many better places to take it than... where it was taken. Gosh wait edit to add: I moved for the first time in my life recently, and unhauled SOOOOO many books, all given to my local thrift shop (from whence many of them had come). Quite a few of them I hadn't read, because when I got my kindle I... kind of stopped reading physical books, except the occasional one from the library. It really makes a difference getting to spread the love of reading to everyone and not just for those who can afford mountains of paperbacks in their house. Ps. you are super right that many libraries are underfunded - my point was directed towards people who feel pressured to spend a ton of money on books just because people (like me) on the internet have big collections. i think there is a lot of ~for the aesthetic~ book consumption, largely in wealthier places with better-stocked libraries, and that was what i was speaking towards. i wish that libraries all over the world were better resourced/books were more accessible for everyone and i completely recognize my privilege to have access to so many. honestly this is why i worry about making videos like this lol!! i never want to leave anyone out. but my takeaway was meant to be that you need to own anything to be a reader/enjoy reading - which is still true wherever you are.

For some reason this comment is all the way at the bottom; it popped up temporarily and I scrolled through the entire comment history to find & read it bc I wanted to make sure I saw it correctly in the .2 seconds it was on screen. That is a really messed up situation and I'm sorry your library has not been successful! I'm quite sad for the people who somehow think stealing from the library is a normal and okay thing to do, but the consequences of those actions is also incredibly unfair. I worry about the future of many US libraries as right-wing politicians cut funding so badly they cannot afford to stay open and are under constant scrutiny. If you don't mind answering, what do you do in your city? Do readers just have to buy books themselves for the most part? Is Libby available there? Is there any group that is working to change the public perception around the library, or to otherwise protect it?

Thank you for the shout out to libraries!!! It is so... not great feeling when I'm in groups and everyone talks about buying-buying and being broke but when you mention the library they are SHOOK. Support local libraries folks.

it’s hard to get rid of books because you think of the what if’s BUT it’s also so healing to let them go ~ there are also so many resources like the library and other forms where you can access online versions of books that if you ever do want to read a book you gave away there’s a way to still do so!! loved this video and love that you kept a picture up of the book while talking 😊

Just dropping in to say The Once and Future Witches really surprised me and is now one of my all time favourites. Especially recommend if you like sibling dynamics in your books!

I’m on the same page with you on “Small Things Like These.” Well-written, a fine story, but I finished it being like “…okay. That’s exactly what I figured would happen.” The way people talked about it, I thought I would be blown away and I just straight up wasn’t.

"i've had since dinosaurs walked the earth..." girl! the way you had me laughing!! also love how where the crawdads sing will be added to all the other ones in the used bookstore/thrift store. it is where it deserves to go. i felt similarly about the book - really enjoyed until i found out about all the real life alleged criminal activity and i am so uncomfy!!! bye ms. owens! Thank you for loving on libraries.

I used to buy every book I read and you summed up how I feel about things so well. I love the library so much now and only having books that I love is so nice. Thank you for putting that part in because it is definitely not said enough!

I am really happy to hear your thoughts on giving back to the community with the over abundance of books we may or may not have! Libraries and second hand shops have been my safe place growing up and created a beautiful realm for me to go to anytime I needed it ❤ keep up your amazing work ✨

this is such a timely video, i just spent three days straight clearing out my childhood bookshelves. such a nostalgic process, finding books that i had honestly forgotten i loved so much and honestly just creating a space that was beautiful and uncluttered and made me want to read again. i totally agree with your message of recycling books back into the community, some of my younger cousins and family friends are always keen for new books and it is such a joy to be able to spread the love of reading!

This video wasn’t even a book review and yet you continue to be the only person who can get me out of a reading slump somehow, thank you Lexi 🙏

I don't have much to say. I like watching your videos while I am studying cuz you speak fast enough for my brain and it helps me focus.

"My reaction to confusion is boredom". This might not have been exactly what you said because you speak really fast and english isn't my first language. BUT this is what I heard and I can really relate. When there is too much confusing elements in a book my reaction is "Wait, what?" and then after a few pages I usually find myself lost and not remembering what I just read and I put it down never to pick it up again.

This was so fun to watch. I ended up dnfing a darker shade of magic, but I gave it to my best friend and she adored the whole series. I really love the way Schwab talks about writing, but so far, her books haven't worked for me.

As someone who has really gotten into reading this year, it's so aesthetic seeing your shelves, but I myself can't buy books. I liked your note at the end, just enjoy your hobby of reading however you want :)

I love how different people react differently to things, like by the rules you set out in this video I'd be keeping Evelyn Hardcastle because I THREW the book across the room when the "twist" at the end was revealed 😂
