The weird thing about the 'satire' though is that ultimately they're saying that America should be allowed to just fuck everything up because if they don't, nothing will be solved. It's actually kind of a fucked up, tacit approval of the Bush administration when you think about it

It's a shame that the production of this movie was apparently an absolute nightmare. For example: all these miniature sets, had to be build, blown up and then rebuild, because the first shot wasn't good. Also, they were working parallel on a Southpark season with 20 episodes at the time. According to Stone & Parker, this was the most miserable experience they had, working on a movie. When the whole thing was finit, everyone was just relived. That's why they refuse to make a sequel.

Plus, Matt and Trey overestimated how much they could pull off with marionettes compared to traditional animation. You could see them poking fun at their limitations in certain scenes, like the one-on-one "Fisticuffs" between a Team American Member and Terrorist in Paris. Factor in how frustratingly cumbersome they found operating them, it's no wonder they refused to do a sequel nor attempt another comedy using this method.

I saw it in a theater, and I swear I’ve never heard anybody laugh as loud as two girls in the row ahead of me at the sex scene. I was laughing pretty loud too, but they were losing it, and when they seemed to stop, they’d start all over again. Trey & Matt sure reached them.

Well I was about 8 or 9 when this came out. Loved Thunderbirds and stingray and we'd seen nothing about this prior to seeing it in a shop on VHS. Got home and put it on and my mum came in wondering why me and my brother were giggling like hyenas. Obviously we didn't really understand some of it like the sec scene but she was mortified because she thought it were like Thunderbirds too. 😂

Bill Paxton wasn't bad either as Jeff. Wotsit as penelope too. But the kids were just a bit crap. My memory is weird. I found the Team America submarine torpedo for sale at an online prop auction and snatched it up. I don't think anyone really knew what it was, but it even said "Team America" on the side with juts some of "team" scratched off from production handling or whatever, but I recognized it instantly even though it was only on screen for about two seconds in the movie. Almost 2' long, It's one of my favorite props today.

I saw this when it came out. I went to a small cinema in CHiba city,Japan, with a young lady I was seeing. I was the only non Japanese there. It was in English but with wildly inadequate subtitles in Japanese. I was crying laughing, in danger of a serious medical incident. Nobody else was laughing. The girl I was with was a little embarrassed. I still cry laughing at this masterpeice.

I worked on this film. I represented half of the puppeteers along with Pat Brady. If you ever want to get into this level or art, move to Burbank or Soho. The guys - and gals - are all the most fantastic people to work with in the industry. They are the creators, and incredibly talented and humble - for the most part. I love the Chiodo Brothers worksop. I miss working with them. It was so much fun. After this film we worked on Becks tour where he was using the puppets on stage and recording next to them. Quite fun.
