Hello, thank you for the video, very educational. Would it be possible for you to make a video of installing new u-joints?

did mercruiser have different retaining rings over the years... I had to go back and watch my own video after this and it doesn't look like the bearing cup would clear the teeth on my retaining ring...

Hi Chris, I've tried to source uni joints for a gen 2 alpha 1.. but seems soo expensive here in Australia.. my mechanic is quoting $240 each uni joint for the part. Any places you can recommend.. I've got knocking and clunking sounds coming from the upper section of the leg even with the stren fully down and gets worse with full lock. I suspect uni joints.. Any recommendations or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Jump onto a forum called iboats. There's quite a few threads on there with alternative numbers to many common parts. FYI, I'm a moderator there. As for the noise, have you checked the gimbal bearing? I have also done a video on that....

You can call it anything you like, mate. It's how I've been doing it for over 30 years. How many have you done?

No, I didn't. I've been doing this for over 30 years. Never damaged a seal (or anything else) using this method. How many have you done?
