Hi. Nice video. Thank you for that. I own a Whistler Pro 73, which I think is even older than what you had. Where I drive (in Europe) especially in my country, my pro 73 detects the Laser band radars( I know they should be called some other way) but I am not very happy with the detecting distance, when they are positioned in a way the officers offently do. Have you hit any Laser alarms yet? Would the R8 be significantly better than my old one at that?.. It is very hard to find any feedback on this as most of the users seem to be in the US. Drive safe

I still have same issues as with older model. Many false alarms. And worse now, they are using lidar on the highway I drive daily and it doesn’t pick them up at all. And no, never have had a laser alarm. It does pick up Ka band in Ohio and K band in Pennsylvania well but most detectors do. I honestly don’t know if it is worth the price. Plus the laser jammer they promised isn’t going to happen now.

@@jophoto934 I am not that familiar with the terminology but I am starting to think that LASER is not the same with LIDAR. Because in LASER band such an old model as I have is able to detect threats but if they are positioned in some specific ways the detection range is not much userful. On the other hand I have been hit a couple of times with those new portable gun type radars which it did not detect at all. But if this LASER detection would be much improved on the R8 I would go for that

2.9 mile alert with my uniden R8. That's the longest distance so far. Regularly does 1+ & 1.5 mile alerts. Mrcd around 3500 feet. Several schools that have X band camera's that consistently alert around 3500 ft. Mine pegs numerous interstate camera's way far out. Also Ka-pop like regularly at a 1 mile out. Usually because theirs always someone in front of me that's getting hit with instant on or Ka-pop. Uniden R8 is King 👑 matter fact today the highway radar app that work's with the R8 was telling me about a hidden alert.

Although it doesn't have the arrows I like the Uniden R4 better than the Uniden R8. Don't leave your radar detector in a hot car all the time, will cause the electronics to prematurely age and cause issues. When you use the Auto City mode on the R8 you will get reduced K band range if your going below a set speed, I only use it now in highway mode.

Make sure to take advantage of the K Block filter on the R8. It will greatly reduce false K band alerts. I run the R7. They are amazing detectors.

I wouldn’t do that just yet… I’ve been everywhere and there’s alot of city kitty’s aka city cops and sheriffs running k band… you have to drive and find the frequency then start individually block the cars and trucks frequencies
@NeauxLA_Man
Жыл бұрын
@@Arizona_rider you have the ability to determine how much signal blocking you want. The K block feature is segmented into the band where most forward collision radar on cars can be muted. You also don’t want to run your radar detector at 100% K band sensitivity. I have plenty of local police using K band too. I’ve never had a situation where I’ve been concerned with picking their radar up in time. You should checkout Vortex Radar’s channel on here. He goes into great detail in how to set up your R7/8 with K block to quiet the detector. You will find in time that it is too chatty if you don’t run the filters and will grow tired of all the false K band alerts.

@@NeauxLA_Man yes I’ve watched it twice because it’s full of information. I’ve ran the r7 for a year now and it’s definitely helped me out alot. Im not speeding alot it takes the stress out of driving because cops sometimes will pull you over doing 3 over if you’re driving at night

A city I drive through has 20mph speed limits. Cops will hide up the long driveways. Sometimes their radar won’t exceed 2 yellow bars!
