Thank you for the review. I just purchased this parka while it was on sale, so I don't feel so bad about its potential drawbacks. But I know what to expect now.

Thanks for watching! Didn't mention in the video but you don't need to wash the jacket as often as I did (wash it only when dirty). That way, it won't wear down as quickly, cheers!

I have been using mine daily from October to May and for more than four years, without the signs of decay you showed. I wash it in the washer machine once or twice a year, up to 30 °, normal liquid detergent. In heavy constant rain (about one hour of exposure) a bit of water begins to trickle in, no problems in windy conditions.

The inner laminate layer is made by synthetic resin so it won't be long lasting.

Excellent review, quite complete. But if I may, for an absolutely complete review you could add the model number of the item (which allows viewers to directly go on the website with this reference number to see the item measurements for size). But for this item in particular, maybe they didnt change anything for 4 years so idk, but for things like sweaters etc from uniqlo they change the product, sizing etc depending of the years and even the materials (like the stripped jumper going from 100% supima cotton to 39% cotton)

Depends on what temperature you'll be wearing them and your body tolerance... I find the ultra warm heattech too stuffy above about -2 degrees

hey, I know it's a bit too late but what kind of DWR spray should I look into? I mainly use Shopee

Just any DWR spray will do (except those meant for leather). I believe decathlon sells one too.

How do you keep it so water repellent after 4 years? Can you give us the tip of washing and to maintain its water repellent?
@subtlesartorialist
9 ай бұрын
Actually mine has lost most of its repellency... I'd say don't wash it so often, spot cleaning is the way to go. But eventually you'll still need to recoat it. Cheaper to invest in a DWR spray than to buy a new rain jacket every few season.

@subtlesartorialist

Hmm it depends. I attribute the durability issues to the laminate layer being incompatible with the stretch and me living in the tropics which wears out the taped seams faster. Most mid/higher end Gore-Tex jackets I've tried have minimal stretch, so the former is less of an issue. And if you live in a cooler climate, the taped seams will probably last longer. But if you're on a budget, consider used, military surplus or even Decathlon (have not tried it but am considering it). Alternatively, a waxed cotton canvas jacket works well under light rain, breathes better, and is longer lasting than most technical/synthetic rain jackets. You'll need to rewax it more often, but then again the DWR finish on rain jackets will eventually wear out and must be reapplied too to maintain water repellency.
