British designer Es Devlin designed the UK pavilion for the Dubai Expo 2020.
The structure, made of cross-laminated timber, was the home to an AI that had the task of writing the longest proem ever written during the 6 months that the expo lasted. Visitors were asked to “donate” a word, which the AI then included into the poem and displayed on the LED screens that made up the façade.
Definitely one of the most striking pavilion designs from the outside at the Dubai Expo 2020. The interior was kept simple and rather than try to “sell” the UK to the visitors it invites them to think and reflect on the global future and the impact of cutting edge technology such as AI on something as human as language.
