What a tremendous performance from the victors. Dare I say it was an Open-and-shut case! Gavaghan on fire once again, while Davidson has a truly freakish range of knowledge, and is sheer lightning on the buzzer. A team to be reckoned with for sure.

I really like how Gavaghan plays, seems to be a good captain. And armed with Davidson, this team can win it all. He's superb. The rest of the team seem reliable and solid, they'll just take some more points left after the two leaders.

I think this was the best demonstration of why James Davidson was a finalist on Mastermind last year 🧠💪 - Mind you, everyone got at least one starter-for-ten right again which is great to see. The losers sadly couldn't really match up on the buzzer or bonuses to the winners - great match though - long may it continue :).

Ran across this in Steve Coogan's new book "Alan Partridge: Big Beacon": "Amol Rajan says I'm like a swan in a suit. And this is a man who knows about a breezy style of broadcasting, since he has a chronic mumble and lazily runs two, three, sometimes four words together at a time -- a trait that sounds like poor diction but is in fact a deliberate affectation to appear more chilled out. In real life he couldn't be clearer and has a clipped manner reminiscent of the speaking clock"
Davidson with 9/9 is wild. I think he's one of the strongest contestants we've seen in a while.

Thanks again, CosmicPumpkin1 Just now getting around to watching this on Friday, been a busy week. And the winning team was busy, too. Busy answering questions. I said in their last match that with the right questions, they could win it all. If anything, they seem to have expanded their knowledge base. If this keeps up, they could be series winners. Bad luck to the losing team to run up against a juggernaught so soon. My best to both teams, and each indivual.

I certainly think Hertford will have something to offer - even though it's my alma mater I'm not as sure about Manchester, but we'll just have to see. Hertford does I think have a nasty draw playing UCL in just under two weeks' time, and I don't think it'll be any easier for Manchester whomever they play - makes for compelling viewing though :).

First time I watch this competition. I would think that a team that lost in the narrowest margine (sort of) and than beat another team that lost in a narrow margin/scored high, will be predicted to be very strong. Go advance the recouche round they had competed with every other loser, and beaten the best of the losers. That’s a stronger screening than beating one team. Isn’t that a common phenomenon?
