Loved every bit of this match. A true thriller! The way York took an early lead, fell behind and made a comeback only to be differentiated by a tie-break is a story to remember. Bachelor and Miss Smith were amazing. McMillan from Birbeck already showed himself in the first round so it was no surprise when he clutched the tie break. Also loved the fast discussions from both teams even when they were leading. True sportsmanship even after the tie where both of them congratulated each other.

Damn - guess you can be a blessing and a curse in Mr McMillan's case 😯. All three of Birkbeck's interruptions were from him, but he did solve the TB and get the bulk of their starters again, so guess that makes up for it? That was rather devious of Rajan 😅with such a long pause for the last question as well. Also weirdly both teams seemed to swap performances - York far better on bonuses this time 16/24 vs a much poorer 14/30 for Birkbeck - oh well - let's see what happens in the next round 😊.

Sure, but it was a good gamble. Already from the premise of the question the eye is the most likely answer, you would need to look for very specific works for any of the other four. And novels on "regeneration" seem to fit the pattern for the most likely answer - you get a lot of eyes in various (e.g. religious and occult) symbols and almost no noses/ears/fingers/tongues. I probably would have buzzed at that point too. It was also a lucky coincidence, as this particular regeneration trilogy happens to be on WWI :)

@misofac
9 ай бұрын
@@JanKosinski-x8h Unsure whether that's sarcasm or not because neither option makes sense here. While he gambled a lot during the round, he also got the most starters right for his team, many of them with actual confidence. On the other hand, the whole reason why we have this discussion is that he did seem to be a bit too quick on the draw - three incorrect interruptions is way over par, and his buzzing felt a bit too rushed to me. Most obviously when he knew but failed to say the correct first letters of "papillon". Still, buzzing in before you are certain is not a bad thing per se, all top quizzers do that in buzzer quizzes. It's just a game of getting the percentages just right, and he was probably slightly off on the early side today. We'll see whether he adjusts his timing for the next round.

The quizmaster's getting better and better. His routine exaggerated praises for the teams, followed by apologies for the losing team may, however, be Politically Correct in this age of undiscriminating praise/apologies, but are in fact distasteful.
