Woohoo! I just finished my first week of the M.Ed. Ultimately, I've learned that you get what you put into it. I've been putting in significant effort already and am even questioning whether I'll be able to handle 2 classes per term when school begins again. Have you had any classes with Dr. Hartmann yet? She's incredible and truly participates in the discussions. She gives feedback, but in such a positive way. I wish I could have her for every class. P.S I want to answer the questions you asked me in the other video. Would you be okay if I reached out to you on the UoP platform?

Hi Rudy, I'm taking two courses as a part-time teacher and it is a little difficult to manage but it is possible. I'm also juggling French, KZitem, fitness , and UoPeople. I think it's manageable if you manage your time effectively. I also did my credential program while I was a full-time teacher a couple years ago, which was two classes. It was time-consuming but I think if you organize yourself well, it's definitely manageable. I'll be creating more content regarding Uof People and my experience with the different classes. Also, ways on how to collaborate with others, how to be successful, and how to manage your time!
@AdamWebbCSEC
4 жыл бұрын
Hey Rudy. I'm also an M.Ed student at the UoPeople. I am doing 3 courses this term, along with a fulltime job AND a part-time job. I've also done 2 courses in previous terms. Doing 3 is possible, but it means you will be constantly griding through assignments and losing sleep. Doing 2 courses is much more manageable, and you get more time to engage in group discussions and polish your assignments. Even so, if you have a lot of responsibilities outside of your fulltime job, even 2 courses can be tough.

Hello Yelbasse, I truly appreciate the feedback. I have a couple of questions: 1. Are their any proctored tests? 2. How long does it take to finish your master's degree?
@Yelbasse
9 ай бұрын
Hi! There are no proctored tests. You can finish your degree within a 1 yr if you're able to take more than 3 courses per term (that's not recommended if you are working full-time). However, if you are taking 2 courses per term, you can finish in a year and a half. It took me about 2 years because I took a leave of absence for one of the terms. Obviously, if you can only take one course per term, it will take longer to finish your degree.

Hi Yelbasse, well done on your achievement! ive enrolled for the Masters in Education degree last week - will commence in January 2021 . i would just like to know regarding your thesis topic - did you have to do your own topic or where you assigned a topic by your Academic Tutor. and how many thesis did you have to compose. Im just abit skeptical at the moment as i am a working class individual (HR Manager) and concerned about the time i would need to put into this. i do have a masters in Education from the Atlantic International University already however its not accredited in my country of South Africa (has UK accreditation only through ASIC) hence i decided to enroll with UoP as their degrees are accredited in my country. Please let me know Thanks

@@Yelbasse I am in Bangkok Thailand at the moment. And I have bad news about the university of the people for international educators like myself. The ministry of education here in Thailand that I spoke to does not recognize Distance Education Accrediting Commission (DEAC) for the university of the people. Therefore graduates of the program would need a 3 step verification process from the USA before even applying for a job here in Thailand, even if we complete the process, they are also skeptical of online only programs without a physical campus.
@DonTravelsTheWorld

I was told by the ministry that the steps are as follows: first... get the school to issue a new degree and full transcript set... at most schools someone in the registrars office is also a state notary public... ask for both papers to be notarized.. step 2: send all of that to the secretary of state where the notary is based (which is the same as the school as the notary would be a school employee) and get the secretary of state to certify the notary public’s signature/seal..: step 3: send all of that to the US Department of States office of legalizations and authentications.. they will certify that the secretary of states signature/seal is legit step 4: send that to the thai emabssy.. they will certify the that US Department of States seal is legit
@DonTravelsTheWorld

all in all its about a 7 month process and around $1000 to get this done because of thailands skepticism and the DEAC not showing up in their list of accredited buereus.

Hi Derrick! Thanks for watching. The Master's does not lead to certification! I taught for two years through the Teach for America program.
