This operation is sort of the way it was done when I was a kid back in late 40's early 50's. Only the corn was brought in from the field in whole stock form and fed into a chopper blower an in the silo. As a young boy my job was in the silo just walking around and around packing it down with your feet. yes it ferment and makes lots of juice at the bottom.

Wayne Rogers sorry but this is nothing like the 40s and 50s, this blow deck type unloading is much more efficient than chopping at the blower, he unloaded his wagon in a couple minutes which would have been unheard of back then

@MRcubcadet107 not a a problem. There's the TW, the 9700, the 9600 and you can see the 6700 in the distance right at the end of the video. these loads are a little heavy for the 67

@TheFarmboy1992 Thank you so much! I finally found it. I am from Québec by the way... one of the last places in the world where there are more tower silos than bunker silos. XD

@517anon No, it ferments, which helps to preserve the feed rather then break it down

So the silage is entrained upward into the silo in a stream of power-blown air? Is that right? It’s not a screw-auger?
@reeseholler92
4 жыл бұрын
That's correct. It's basically a big fan that blows the material up the pipe

The loads to heavy for a 6700? We pulled them with under 50 hp tractors. The 53 hp tractor was on the chopper. Up till 4 yrs ago when my brother gave up dairying he used a Ford 5000.

do u use those rear unloading wagons for bunker silo also?? why not have front unloading wagons and just unload straight into the blower???
@reeseholler92

We do use them in bunkers as well. The silos are used pretty much as overflow for when the bunkers are full. We used to have front unloaders until we switched to bunkers then we moved from the Grove front unloads to H&S rears

what are the pro's of putting silage in silo's like that vs silage in a silage heap or pit? becaus i nevers someone putting there silage in to silo's like this in my area

nobody wants to drive the old tractors, so as long as it's strong enough to run the blower, they leave it sit to run the blower

I am looking for a feeder table like this but in bigger. I would really like to make my haylage with a Pottinger silage trailer and blow it in a tower silo. I just can't find any feeder table sold in Canada and I didn't find any information on this one. :( It would be perfect for me because only one person can do all harvesting and storage. I still have to find out if the cut lenght of the Pottinger trailer will reduce the fermentation. Anyways, I would be very thankful if you could help me.

never seen a feeder table like that, but it looks like if you need one you could easily make one out of an old silage box and a torch, just cut the top off the front unload silage box, remove it from the running gear, and put the front on blocks, and set the back down low, then the only change would be the pto for the feeder wagon on the front
