Red Rising gets so much better the further you get into the series! It will definitely go down as one of my favorite sci-fi series of all time.

Thanks! That’s good to hear as the 1st book was just ok for me. But, I’m definitely excited to continue.

It’s so much fun! Colorado and Utah have fantastic trails. Some of the best, most technical, and picturesque in the US.

King tends to ruin plans. So addictive. On another note, Utah may be my favourite state to visit for national parks. I've been to Zion, Bryce Canyon, Canyonlands, and Arches. A highlight when our kids were young was rafting down the Colorado River just north of Moab. Love to explore your state of Colorado some more. I've mostly driven through Denver and the mountains.

I agree, Utah has the best, most visually outer-worldly NPs! I’ve been to the same ones as you plus Capitol Reef NP, also stunning. I split my time between Colorado and New York City, but Colorado is much more of my vibe. We live in Boulder right on the foothills of Rocky Mountain NP. Boulder is beautiful, I cannot imagine a better place to live. If you’re ever visiting Colorado, you have to let me know!

I have read a lot of Ursula K Le Guins books. I don't think. I have read The World for World Is Forest, I have to look into it.

I read a first few pages of it today, and I was drawn in right away. Too early to tell if I’m gonna like it, but it’s a promising start.

Both you and I enjoyed All the Pretty Horses. I recently read the next book in the series The Crossing. The first 125 pages were great. It then devolved into a meandering story and a philosophical mess. Also, all of the conversations with the Mexican people were in Spanish. Yikes. Too much to I Phone translate. So frustrating. Just a heads up.

Oh… that’s disappointing… I enjoyed the Spanish dialogue included in All the pretty horses, but any more would have been difficult for me. Like you, I had to stop reading to translate most of it. I’ll give the Crossing a try at some point anyway, but there are a couple of other books by McCarthy I want read first: Blood Meridian or No country for old Men is likely to be my next McCarthy read. Thanks
