In this episode of APDA’s Unlocking Strength Within series, we explored apathy in Parkinson’s disease (PD), a common symptom for people living with PD. Our special guest, Dr. Linda Tickle-Degnen, described what we know about motivation and apathy in general from scientific literature and from “lived-experiences” described by people living with Parkinson’s, and provided an overview of recent evidence on biological, psychological, and social factors associated with motivation and apathy while living with PD.
She shared tips and strategies on how to cope with and manage difficult symptoms of Parkinson’s that can create loss of motivation and apathy, and how to choose activities and routines that can help you rediscover motivation in daily life. She answered questions live during the program from our audience, too
