Thank you so much, it’s like you read my mind!!❤️ I love ballet with all my heart and i want to do it all day every day, but recently with zoom classes it just feels so pointless, like why should i do my extra strengthening and stretching if i’m just standing in my bedroom anyway? It’s been really demotivating. One thing that really helps me when i’m feeling demotivated is putting on some of my fav pieces from Swan lake, Nutcracker, or even just classical music, and then just dancing my heart out! It really helps me remember why i dance, how happy it makes me, and why i could never live without it❤️ Love your and your videos!!🥰❤️

Thank you so much for your comment, Josefine!! I love the idea of putting on music from your favorite ballets! I have done that too at times, and it’s amazing how it ignites my passion and creativity again!

I would love to hear from you, dancers! What tip will you be first putting into practice to regain motivation, and what will you be using that motivation to do? Let me know in the comments! 💕

Hi Kirsten, thank you for your video! Just for you to understand how demotivated I am; I saw your video when you first posted it and I knew it was exactly the thing I needed to watch. I watched the first 3 minutes and then it took me 6 DAYS to finish it because I kept saying I’ll watch it later... omg. To be completely honest, I heard most of your points and told myself ugh even these simple, clear, perfectly helpful points seem like too much for me right now. (And then I got frustrated with myself after thinking that, too.) But when you mentioned choreographing a solo for myself something did spark! I will definitely try this out and then build on your other points from there. (I HOPE!) These covid moments are so tough, thank you so much for your amazing videos, they are a light at the end of a tunnel!

This was so useful, I find Zoom classes really depressing. I find that wearing proper ballet attire and doing my hair really helps me to be in the proper mindset as opposed to wearing slouchy clothes. Someone accidentally unmuted themselves in class yesterday and commented to their friend on the fact that I was wearing a leotard (most others were just wearing trousers or shorts and t-shirts or jumpers) but this video kind of confirmed that this is actually a good and useful thing to be doing! I also think setting up the environment more for class is a great idea

I really like the identity part! That was very helpful for me, thank you! :) Words are so important. I think that because it is okay to sometimes (nonjudgmentally) say "I'm being lazy right now" or "I feel like being lazy this weekend" etcetc, we don't realize that it's *not* okay to say "I AM lazy", equating what we do from time to time with who we are. They sound so similar (in spite of their VERY different meaning) that it's scarily easy to slide into that without even realizing it!
