I think you are right. I have always said that RV manufactures design these things to leak. If they didn't leak, people wouldn't have to replace them so often.

Why not put double sided tape underneath the membrane where it connects in the front if your worried about the wind?

PVC membranes FTW again. Full length membrane tucked underneath the front cap, like the manufacturer. And cut a second strip to lay across the top of the cap, welded to the field area. 🤌
