WOW, the slow-mo magic is breathtaking! The 1500 FPS footage is incredible. I love how the camera captures the subtle details of the martial arts moves. The Gemini Man clip in 120FPS is also impressive, the fluidity is stunning. Thanks for sharing!

I'll be honest that gemini man clip was quite helpful because it made me realise my monitor doesn't display 60fps stuff properly, it was stuttering a tiny bit, so I went down a rabbit hole and ended up fixing it and I rewatched the clip and yeah it's a pretty nice display test, I can imagine it being played in stores.

Ryan, I think the world needs more people like you. More people that talk about how bad a video played back at high frame rates looks. Also, how bad TV:s with a "motion enhance" feature that adds frames to a perfectly looking 24-30fps footage to make it 50-60fps. Couldn't we just standardize having EVERYTHING played back at 24-30fps?

I'm glad you're getting sponsors and it's a perfectly good thing to advertise, but I want to point out that 20% of this video was an ad. I can just skip it but I think for your own retention metrics you might be able to make that make more sense in the future by dropping the ad time, or reserving ads that must be a certain length for longer videos.

Don't forget, you'll also get a lot of artifacting and noise when you film stuff like the sand, due to limitations in inter-frame compression. Tom Scott has a nice video on the issue: 'Why Snow and Confetti Ruin KZitem Video Quality.' Bitrate on delivery needs to be kept high, or else you'll always get a blocky noisy mess, with these types of subjects. This is one of the things that excites me now as a macro video artist, as every year it gets easier to deliver higher bitrate content straight to the user.

Cool camera. Might want to spruce up your audio though. You've got some phase delay issues going on (recording stereo or using multiple mics?), or early reflections in your studio, which can be treated acoustically.

The slomos you shot and the ones you have shown from the movies in the start are very distinct. Yours looked videoish and the the other very filmic. Can you explain me why?

Slow motion is over used by people on KZitem and amateur film makers in general it does my head in!. Literally only use slow motion if it’s absolutely essential. The film JoJo rabbit, the director used ONE yes ONE slow motion shot in the entire film!. Yet people still use slow motion for every other shot in their videos or short films .

I’m amazed it still impresses me despite its over-use. Using it now for a liquid art project bc it only takes 1/2 second to squirt UV dye into clear water. It’s not going on YT.

I am a Phantom Flex and Veo operator in England, I have used the Freefly 5k and yes it is a great ‘entry’ level camera but it still doesn’t compare to the image quality and sensor that you get in the phantom. Also having to plug the body into the computer or handing the camera to the DIT isn’t great, especially when the camera crew have set the camera up and you have to remove the camera and download the footage meaning you can’t film anything else until you have downloaded. Freefly need to build an external SSD mount so you can leave the camera in position and offload the media separately
