Regardless of how anyone feels about Varg as a person, you can’t help but respect him as a musician and a very uniquely talented musician at that. The way he could let the atmosphere of the music shine through even with such shitty quality production is unparalleled by anyone even in the same genre and even by those who used his music as a template to create their own. Btw that’s not a shot at poor production quality but when done right it adds a subtle charm that can’t be denied.

Great stuff! I feel like I should probably explain that a band is more than one person. You could argue that Burzum was a band when the guy from Emperor was playing bass for the recordings and Euronymous for War, but Uruk Hai is a solo project (not sure if it's thrash either). By that logic, it's like someone recording a few songs they made up on violin and saying it's an orchestra. Yeah, there's a thing called a one-man band, but that's usually one person playing multiple instruments at the same time, not one person layering one instrument over another in a studio. And it just has the wrong ring to it, especially with metal.

Am I the only one thinking that he fabricated this whole thing and the story behind it is all fake, meaning that he had actually recorded it in the modern age around the years of his post-prison metal albums? I mean, just listen at 08:37 for some time, like 20-30 seconds, and then switch to this video at 15:23: kzitem.info/news/bejne/tJ17v3Zqe6WJiII If we just assume that he had remembered the melodies of Belus' død and Sverddans for all these years, how he had achieved such production in a DEMO/cassette recording back in the day? Even if the music has been recorded a few years later (93-94, not sure), how he had achieved sound that is THAT close to his current unreleased demo material? On the other hand, BURZUM Demo I and II sound like complete s**t and they are both from 91. So, Varg had better equipment to record the music on this demo cassette back in the day, no matter if in prison or outside, but he did not have the same or at least similar gear to record his awfully sounding demos I and II in 91?! Also, if we assume that he in some way got a better equipment, how can somebody explain the similarity in sound of this cassette and his unreleased demo riffs? Yes, the unreleased riffs sound A BIT brighter but so what? Fallen sounds WAY brighter than Belus and it was released the next year? The production is so suspiciously close while the recording technology in 94 is VERY different than the digital recording technology today. This same technology that he had used to record these unreleased riffs. I don't know if the problem is in me, and I am a die hard BURZUM fan since my teenage years, but there is something about this release that Varg did not tell us. Overall, my personal opinion is that the music on this cassette has been recorded in the modern day and age using the modern digital technology and the whole story behind it is a hoax made for "cult" and image purposes. Cheers!
