I used to tent camp. Then I began having trouble kneeling down and crawling into the tent. So I bought a cute little tent trailer, a Sylvansport GO. Camped in that for several years, until I began having problems with cranking it up (tent is in the hard roof). So this year I got a self-contained travel trailer. It is what it is. I tent camped ate Orville back in 2016. I get my federal owned campsites at 50%, because I am a disabled veteran.

Probably hindsight could you have unhooked the tote and gotten far enough over? Curious about how those totes work. I’ve driven truck for many years, but never doubles so I’m unfamiliar with how the air and electrical work with the unit when backing. Is your rig an automatic? We have a43’ 5th wheel and figured an f450 will be a good vehicle although I have thought about pulling with a big rig, figured we’d be too long to get around and enjoy our travels. ✌
@WattsOnWheels
10 ай бұрын
Unhooking and re-hooking the tote is a pain. We found out we had pinched wires that was making the tote not work periodically. Since the tote is connected to the RV at 2 points, it is considered an extension of the RV, thus not pulling doubles. Yes our truck has i-shift. F450 is pretty heavy duty. We choose the HDT for safety, especially out in the mountains and the fact that we spend most of our time traveling.
@skoffco
10 ай бұрын
This is precisely why we sold our HDT. Too stressful wondering if you could fit into half of the campgrounds in this country. 95% of the time the people working in the office don’t even know what type of rig it is or if it will fit. We now have an Ford F450 with an Arctic Fox truck camper and pull our SMART car behind that for out-of-the-way places and use our fifth wheel camper for wintering in Florida. Win-win situation for us all the way around.

It's bad enough when you have to deal with People that have no clue as to what they're talking about and then the equipment decides to start acting up.... Where did you go to boondock in that area with mark and gen ?.... We are so glad everything worked as self out... Thanks for the video...J&A

When in that area we stay at Game Lodge Campground and love it there. We’re in a 35 ft Winnebago Class A pulling our SUV. Check out their sites when in the area but to get in you have to book at least a year in advance. Nicest campground we’ve seen in that area.

Hi guys. At what point (if any) did you realize you went up the wrong way thru a pull thru campsite ( at 4.15 minutes into your video) when you were finding your site? You stopped at that point, and then proceeded thru the pull thru. Based on the camp host's directions, if you proceeded to the right, you would have found your campsite on your right side. I see this at that spot where you had to turn around and was confronted by another camper. It appears that if you continued to the right at 4.15 minutes into the video, then you would have found yourself at the same spot you eventually turned around at - although you would have been facing/going in the right direction. I apologize if I am incorrect due to something I do not see in the video. But, the camp host seemed to be very specific in her instructions, and it is what I also observed in your video. I hope you were not so critical on the review of the camp host in error. I love watching your videos, and please keep them coming.
@WattsOnWheels

At 4:15, that was a center road for other campsites. We followed the Hosts instructions. We didn't show that road in the video, however, if we would have turned there we would have had to make a very tight hair pin turn at the end to the left to get to site 14 on the right and there would have been absolutely no room to make that turn. Also at 4:15 there was a sign indicating to continue like we did to #14. We left favorable comments for the park but mentioned it was not the best choice for big rigs.

Sites are set up with the picnic tables and fire pits on the side of the RV door not such that you have to walk out into a narrow street and around your rig to it. If you have little kids or pets, good luck with that. But mostly, we didn't want our slides to get hit.

Definitely put that one on your Never list. When you are that long, you really have to do your homework, however, sometimes you can't find all the info you need and you go by the info provided. We still should have gotten out first and drove to it to check it out especially since we couldn't see it on Google Earth.

Here they'd call that a "hiker/bicycle" camp area and add a bunch more sites but only charging like 5 bucks a night for each. What you're showing looks more like rest area overnighting, which is also valid (and free); when the main truck area is full you'll see semi trucks staged along the exit/entrance and they'll walk in for coffee (many here have volunteers with coffeepots) and bathrooms. At any price that was unreasonable accommodations for your use case. If you were on motorcycles you'd been golden - 12 bucks for a site with few people parked and partying near you is not too shabby at all
