In the US, the biggest freight train companies are Union Pacific, BNSF, Norfolk Southern and CSX...who are they in the UK?

Why some freight trains, sometimes quite a few carriages, have just a lead unit whilst others have units at each end?

Interesting top & tail flask movement. Where was that from? Nice to see some 59s, & those panned shots in the low sun are really nice.

Flask weighs 50 tonnes (Empty with no cooling water or irradiated fuel) and irradiated fuel weighs about 2.5 tonnes. All flask trains have to operate with 2 loco's just in case one breaks down. The last thing anyone wants is 2.5 tonnes of extremely radioactive nuclear fuel sitting on a main line or in a station or near a populated area for any length of time!!! This would be a gold mine for the terrorists in today's world! Mind you, you actually get little more than "background" radiation being emitted from the flasks so there is no danger to someone standing next to one full of fuel.
