@@bigeatiedrawings5870 about it being a lego set, i might want to disagree... while i would find it cool if lego made a RC set with pneumatics,if the set had this size, it would just be another set over 450€ ( probably priced at 600€ i think ) and i wouldnt buy it. If lego were to release a MOC offroader, i would prefer the small ZIL with 6 wheels of Sariel : it s way smaller, but it would also be way more affordable... for now, i m waiting to see the motor we will get with the Porsche set... supposedly the fastest set ever, but we dont know yet about the capacity of the motor...

Hey man love the truck, i am working on a simmilar truck with independent Tatra suspension, the rear tandem axle uses almost the same mechanism with the pneumatic cylinder, but i am wondering how u regulate the pressure, i tried to make a auto shut off compressor for mine but i failed, are your pumps running all the time? Does your rear suspension get stiffer if you dont let any air out ? I would be glad if you take your time to answer my questions, thanks
@Bric_workshop
2 ай бұрын
@@huginobugino9142 thanks for taking the time to leave a comment! I'll try to answer all your questions. First off the suspension on the truck isn't really like tatra as the rear axles are solid axles unlike in a tatra type where each wheel has its own independent linkage. None the less I'll answer your question. With regards to the air I do have an auto compressor unit but I ended up removing it in favor of doing it manually. These cylinders have been modified to be more efficient and don't leak as much. Also by hooking them up to an air tank it acts as a sort or reservoir so you don't need to refill as often. The pressure gauge on top allows me to easily check on the pressure. The pumps you see running are actually for the other air system which poweres the diff locks. The suspension has its own pump. (Usually I just use a hand pump piece to fill it manually before use. As pressure in the cylinder is increased the suspension gets stiffer. If I let all the air out it gets very limp. In this type of suspension the flexible linkage is usually a stiff bar I've added the pneumatics to allow for increased vertical travel/stability. I hope this makes sense. if not feel free to ask me for clarification. I can also send some pics and videos if it's of any help.

Very nice. Id like to recommend a slight improvement with the rear most wheels. Your power for the rear most wheels goes through the differential in the first set of rear wheels. This will result in greatly reduced torque on the rear most wheels. An improvement would be to make a pass through axel over the top of the first differential that will power both the first and second differentials equally. If my description makes no sense, you can see a diagram of how a semi tractor does this in their two sets of rear axels.

Only the front axle is a live axle the rear is a tandem pendular/bogie design. This chassis will be used for a heavy tow truck and in such vehicles independent would be worse. Although independent offers amazing shock absorbing capabilities it is not great at accommodating heavy loads.
