She would have had too much ground to make up. Adeleke's first 200 is her strength, she's relatively weak on the 2nd 200, so you're better off leveraging that by having her slow down for the handover. Mawdsley on the other hand has a strong 2nd 200 relative to her first 200. If Adeleke can reduce the fatigue that sets in in her 2nd 200, she'll then be a no brainer for the last leg

Sydney's split was 47.70, almost one second faster than the second fastest split.

Yes, but Bol just had to do enough to secure 2nd. In the mixed relay, she ran 47.9.

Sydney ran that on the second leg where she had to slow down to hand off the baton. If she had been on the anchor, she would have run even faster

@@chukachukwu9191 That is why the anchor runner is usually the fastest, but Sydney's main discipline is the 400m H.

Big up Team GB🇬🇧 for getting 5 relay medals in 5 events, that’s sensational. Gutted for Ireland too, if only America didn’t exist then Holland, GB and Ireland would all be on the podium🥲 You’ll be back next time though Ireland, mark my words!

Is this "Euro"sport or "GB"sport? The commentator barely mentioned Ireland through the entire race despite the fact that they were in 2nd for a huge proportion of the race.

0.1 sec from the WR. Which was set in 1988 by Soviet with everyone doped to the absolute max. Make of that what you will.
