This is great seeing my great uncle Sam Dixon (Sam Jr - RIP), Reggie, Eddie, and Bobby Buster as well as the countless others featured here. I'm glad that this project was created so many others can learn about the rich jazz history that is uniquely New Haven's!

It is a really nice video about the history of New Haven, put to music and seen on film. I am glad to know that this city has more to offer than what I hear lately. A positive message about their struggle.

I played with Eddie Buster in 1976 at Bill Simpson's in Bridgeport. I wasn't that good but he knew my father in law, who was a Jazz fanatic so he gave me a break. I had seen him play a lot and he was as good as Bud Powell, straight up. And dig this, everybody said that Bobby Buster was THE first cat to play the Bass guitar (fender bass) not Monk Montgomery as the Jazz historians claim.

A very big THANK YOU to Rebecca Abbott and Frank Mitchell for preserving this rich history. It makes me feel a lot better about New Haven, and even about life.

Awesome I grew up and went to Elementary School with Delores Greenlee. Also Mr. Reginald Jackson is an excellent Tai Chi teacher who I worked out with several times. Mr. Trent used to live on Ashmun Street.

i hear ya no worries i got badly overlooked as well by no means is this very well done whats here is fine what it misses is monumental so much missing its criminal..for better or worse what about pat dorn? no not a jazz band but in its day a pretty good big band yet not even a mention.. me? 35 years w both eddie and bobby mentioned here yet not one mention? thats rediculous and feels on purpose bc i was working with eddie at the time of this taping for christs sakes while this is ok i think a more fair and complete history of new haven jazz should be made not as a replacement to this but to augment it it sorely needs it this suffers due to how much is missing here again smh

just realized no mention of laco deci (the only other white guy seen here aside from myself..this burns me more today then when i saw it when it came out oddly these cats talk about playing music regardless of color are not lying we sure did! but then why isnt it reflected in this thing?? slip shod..it cheapens this i'm sorry but truth is truth ia have more bandstand time in with almost all of these people than anyone interviewed what i COULD have added..a total shame and to this day i have no idea why ..all i do know is it surely pisses me off..

its a good vid but i got so so beat on this presentation WOW! how does a drummer that worked w w eddie/bobby buster eddies son brian and dave dana for (wait for it) 35 years! get not one mention in this? ridiculous if not outright criminal..thanks, if you think this is a case of sour grapes? id say YEP! i could see if i sucked but as any number of folks who remember those years could tell you i got more standing ovations more recognition more drummer respect etc etc than ANY drummer of that era yet i have never bragged about myself i've ALWAYS let my gifts speak for themselves, love it or hate it? i took NO prisoners but in this case i feel it necessary to tell it like it was which goes very much AGAINST my self deprecating nature but man! having stated that? i think its a pretty sickening and BLARING oversight if not? then its outright player hating at its most PERFECT..smfh AND WTF truly insulting thanks
