Unveiling the Untold Story of Indian Classical Singer Kesarbai Kerkar! Kerkar, who was born in the little village of Keri (sometimes spelt "Querim") in the Ponda taluka of North Goa, Goa (then a Portuguese province), came to Kolhapur at the age of eight to study with Abdul Karim Khan. When she returned to Goa, she trained with the vocalist Ramkrishnabuwa Vaze (1871-1945), who visited Lamgaon on occasion.
Meanwhile, during the British Raj, Mumbai (then Bombay) was rapidly flourishing as the country's commerce and trading capital. Several artists and singers from North and Central India began moving to the city in response to diminishing patronage from princely states. She, too, went to Mumbai with her mother and uncle when she was 16 years old.

Raaggiri Trust creates, develops, and promotes a mindset that encourages social changes & reforms in society. Music is the universal language of mankind, with this thought Raaggiri aims to establish a connection with the weak the helpless, the underprivileged & the especially able. We are trying to contribute to their progress, recreation & resettlement
🎹Raaggiri focuses on the following through this initiative- 🎶🔊
⁕ We will try to change the music in every heart into a habit.
⁕ Change music's thought process in every corner of society.
⁕ To eliminate the social evils, dissatisfaction, and flaws in humans through music.
⁕ To get rid of negativity with the help of music.
⁕ To encourage the thought of creation.
The Drive to create a positive society through music is RaagGiri!
That engages everyone's life is RaagGiri!
The hope of nation-building is RaagGiri.
We enable classical music to give life to it. It is an effort to connect Indian culture reaching talent at every level. It has to be nurtured and promoted. That's our mission.
Music is creation. It connects us with society and helps in bringing about change. The result of RAAGGIRI is to develop and promote all forms of music; all areas of culture and tradition, by collaborating with government-public-private organizations. Our Focus is to establish connections with the weaker, underprivileged, scheduled castes, Dalits, minorities, and physically and mentally disabled people through music, thus contributing to their progress, resettlement, and recreation. When our actions become habits, we don't need to repeatedly remind ourselves of them. Traditions are part of human nature.
We all have rituals in life. But it isn't easy to always maintain these habits. Everyone has an aim in life but seldom do we walk the path that will take us to our ultimate destination and fulfill our purpose. And this becomes all the more challenging when our goal is to change the existing norms and bring about social changes to improve the current situation; when we choose the path of creation.
